Operación Triunfo is a reality-show talent contest which first aired on Spain's TVE network in 2001. A kind of cross between Pop Idol, Voces en Función, Star Search, and Big Brother, the show aimed to find the country's next solo singing sensation, putting a selection of hopefuls through their paces by getting them to sing a variety of cover versions of popular songs (mainly in Spanish and English, but also sporadically in Italian or Portuguese), with tutoring from various professionals, and a headmaster like a school (first 3 series, Nina, 4 and 5 Kike Santander, 6 and 7 Àngel Llàcer) and 8 with Nina.
Operación triunfo (also known as OT) has been broadcast since 2001, first by TVE and then Telecinco. Successful program and audience, was broadcast on TVE in his first three seasons and in Telecinco in the fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth. In it, a series of week after week contestants demonstrated their skills as singers in a gala live one day a week. The first contest was the most successful, being one of the most popular shows in the history of Spanish television and featuring singers that went on to enjoy long-term recognition from the public. In his first three seasons, the top prize was to represent Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest. TVE in this way was able to build on a popularity surge the Eurovision contest was experiencing in Spain.
Star Academy, called Operación Triunfo ("Operation Triumph") in Spanish-speaking countries, is a highly successful television pop music talent contest with viewer voting and reality show elements. The show format originated in Holland, with the original "Starmaker" produced by Endemol, that has been broadcast in over 50 countries.
There are many versions of the Star Academy or Operación Triunfo show, each country having its own slight variations, but the basic concept remains the same: contestants live in a boarding-school called "The Academy", managed by a director, and various teachers coach them in several artistic disciplines. The participants are filmed with cameras throughout the day and night (an idea borrowed from another of Endemol's major reality shows Big Brother). Once a week, the contestants have to face a prime time show, where they sing the song they've prepared during the week before, as well as recapping their trials and tribulations at The Academy from the past week. The live show will often feature special guest stars, with whom some of the contestants have the opportunity to sing. Based on the judges' verdicts and viewer voting, the weakest contestant is dropped. The eventual winner is awarded a record deal and usually some amount of money.
This is the eighth series of Spanish reality TV show Operación Triunfo. It was presented by Pilar Rubio
The first program was broadcast on 16 January 2011 with the final on 20 February 2011, thus a considerably shorter run than the earlier series. the series was won by Nahuel Sachak.
Triunfo may refer to:
Triunfo (meaning Triumph in English) was a Spanish weekly cultural and political magazine published from 1946 to 1982 in Spain.
Triunfo was founded by José Ángel Ezcurra in Valencia in 1946. In 1948, it moved to Madrid where it was published weekly until 1982.
Triunfo focused on general politics, social studies and popularized economics from 1945 to 1967. However, it began to offer literary articles beginning by the mid-1960s. It continued until 1982. Particularly from 1968, deputy editor Eduardo Haro Tecglen published lead editorials in the magazine, the journal became one of the intellectual references against the Franco regime, and, in the words of Paul Preston, was one of two "champions of democratic ideals", together with Cuadernos para el Diálogo. Its articles on taboo subjects such as capital punishment or marriage led to it being subject to numerous trials and suspensions. The monographic issue on marriage led to the entire edition being confiscated, publication of the journal suspended for four months by the council of ministers, together with a fine of a quarter of a million pesetas, and the corresponding trial before the Tribunal de Orden Público. As a result, thousands of people took out subscriptions to the journal.
