Neetu Singh (born 8 July 1958), also known as Neetu Kapoor following her marriage to Rishi Kapoor in 1980, is an Indian Bollywood actress. She started acting at the age of 8 under the name Baby Sonia. She played Roopa in the 1966 movie Dus Lakh and a dual role in the film Do Kaliyaan. Her other notable films as a child actress were Waris and Pavitra Paapi. She made her debut as a leading actress in Rikshawala in 1972 and went on to appear in over 60 films. She left the film industry in 1983 after her marriage to frequent co-star Rishi Kapoor in 1980. She made a comeback after 26 years appearing opposite her husband in Love Aaj Kal (2009), Do Dooni Chaar (2010), Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012) and Besharam (2013).

Early life

Neetu Singh was born in Delhi to Rajee Kaur and Darshan Singh. She lived in Shanti Building, Peddar Road, Bombay and attended the Hill Grange High School on Peddar Road.

Career

Neetu Singh made her debut as a child actress with films like Do Kaliyaan in the late 1960s. She started playing leading roles in 1972 with Rikshawala which was a flop. She took a small role in Yaadon Ki Baarat (1973), which became a hit, and her dance number to the song Lekar Hum brought her so much attention that she was immediately offered lead roles again. In most films, Neetu was cast as the fun-loving daughter or the 'optimistic' or 'lively' girlfriend. She acted with the top stars of her day, including her future brother-in-law Randhir Kapoor in Kasme Vaade. She was also paired opposite actors like her future uncle-in-law Shashi Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Jeetendra and Shatrughan Sinha in hit films like Deewaar (1975), Adalat (1976), Dharam Veer (1977), Parvarish (1977), Jaani Dushman (1979) and Kaala Patthar (1979).

Neetu Singh (born 25 November 1990) is an Indian model and actress. She came to the showbiz spotlight when she won Miss PTC Punjabi in 2008. Soon after she came in a famous music video "Call Jalandhar Ton" by Harbhajan Maan. She debuted in Dil Tainu Karda Ae Pyaar with Gulzar Inder Chahal in 2012. Her latest movie Saadi Love Story was released in January 2013. In addition to that she also appeared in the Bollywood heist film Special 26 released in February 2013

In an interview with Times of India Neetu said she is very clear about her future. She said she is done with modeling, would prefer acting for Punjabi Cinema over Bollywood Cinema and her final ambition isn't even acting as once she'd done playing the actress, she desire to get into politics.

The Kapoor family is of Punjabi Hindu origin.Prithviraj Kapoor was the first from the family to pursue acting. He was born in the town of Samundri in Punjab, Pakistan in 1906. His father, Basheshwarnath Kapoor, served as a police officer in the Indian Imperial Police in the city of Peshawar; while his grandfather, Keshavmal Kapoor, was a Tehsildar in Samundri, Punjab, Pakistan. Prithviraj's first lead role was in Cinema Girl in 1929.

All three of Prithviraj Kapoor's sons, Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor, and Shashi Kapoor, became actors. Raj Kapoor's sons, Randhir Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor, went on to become well-known actors; his youngest son, Rajiv Kapoor, was not as successful as his brothers. Shashi Kapoor's daughter Sanjana Kapoor also became a film actress, although she had a short career.
