Excel ODBC

Excel ODBC (Open Database Connectivity) is a technology that allows Microsoft Excel to connect to and interact with external databases. Through ODBC drivers, Excel users can import data from databases directly into Excel spreadsheets, enabling data analysis and reporting within the familiar Excel environment.

ODBC is a standardized API (application programming interface) that allows applications like Excel to interact with different database management systems (DBMS) using SQL as a standard for accessing data. The ODBC drivers act as a bridge between Excel and the DBMS, translating the application’s data queries into commands that the DBMS understands.

Excel ODBC provides a user-friendly interface for data manipulation. Users can perform operations like querying, updating, and deleting data directly from Excel without needing to write complex SQL queries. This makes it a powerful tool for non-technical users who need to work with database data.
