Extremely poor heat retention
· Review provided by mec.ca · January 29, 2016
Packaging says it'll keep food HOT for 17 hrs. This is not true. The following is my experience:
– as directed, put boiling water into the canister, closed top and let it sit for 10 minutes. Poured out the boiling water and replaced it with new boiling water for another 10 minutes. Poured out steaming hot water and poured in extremely hot soup (soup that had been simmering/bubbling on the stove). Put the canister into my day-pack...wrapped in spare clothing...took the canister hiking in 0 to +2 deg C weather. Opened thermos 5-6 hours later and the soup was lukewarm...in fact, barely warm at all.

In my honest opinion – Not worth the purchase at all if you intend to keep your liquid warm.
Doesn't keep your soup warm.

I purchased this to keep soups and other lunch liquids warm as I work in construction. Today I filled the container with boiling water and let it stand for about 8 minutes. I reheated some soup in the microwave - stirring every minute until it was almost boiling. Replace the water with soup. Screw the lids on and head to work. (I keep the container as well as my coffee thermos in a heated job shack.) Around coffee time I move the container and it's hot to the touch - which tells me the unit is poorly insulated if the heat from inside is transferring outside. At lunch I open up the jar and there's no steam, my soup is lukewarm at best. Not impressed. Will be returning unit to MEC.
Disappointed.

I purchased the 14 oz, 24 oz, and 25 oz Stanley vacuumed sealed jars from Walmart online. In my opinion, if you're a consumer that is debating what size to purchase of the awesome Stanley product line for hot/cold food/liquids, get the 24 oz. wide neck, period. It's the perfect sized vessel.
