Wanted to love it...

I bought this in the teal colour as a Christmas gift to myself, to use at work so my coffee would stay hot longer. When it arrived (in a box with some MEC clothing I'd bought my kids) the outside of the white rim had a visible dent in it. The shipping box was in perfect shape, so it must have been damaged before shipping. I was conflicted about exchanging it, but for such a pricey mug I at least wanted it to start out in new condition. MEC was easy-going about exchanging it, so I shipped it back and they sent me a new one. The second one arrived with a small chip in the white coating right on the rim, but I figured it was a tiny cosmetic issue and I'd ignore it. However when I used it, I noticed it was kind of wobbly when I set it on my desk, and when I examined it more closely I saw it was dented on the bottom, which stopped it from being properly stable. I was really bummed that they didn't check their products more carefully before shipping, as it's such a waste of resources sending stuff back and forth. I considered just keeping it but in the end exchanged it for a different product.

Damage aside, I did quite like the mug but there were some negatives. The lid was easy to clean and use, but the slider creates a pretty wide sipping area so I found it hard to drink from neatly unless the slider was nearly shut. The white coating started to discolour on the inside really quickly - after just a few days of use. And even if washed thoroughly, it retained the taste of whatever had been in it last (like a coffee that totally tasted like herbal tea).
Solid build quality but metallic taste lingers.

The concept of this mug is great. I like the stainless steel body and the silicone base. However, I was hoping that the Ceramivac lining would prevent the typical metallic taste from getting into my coffee. However, despite cleaning it thoroughly in advance with hot water and allowing it to sit overnight, the metallic taste is still there. I even compared it to a traditional ceramic mug using the same water source and the difference is noticeable. The water in the 100% ceramic mug still tasted perfectly clean and fresh after a few hours. The water in the Stanley mug had a very strong metallic taste. I regret that this mug didnt work for me as I had hoped of finally finding a durable yet metallic-free tasting mug.
Excellent Product

This is such a great product and love the 24 oz size. I love the wide opening on the lid it’s like drinking from a normal cup. This keeps everything hot and the cold stuff cold. I read one reviewer that used bleach and it ruined the cup but Stanley’s website says not to use bleach. Another said it was not leak proof but it does not claim to be, splash proof if enough for me I don’t want a thermos like seal. I was considering a yeti but I personally taste the steel so I love the ceramic coating, no funny taste. This is a must have. I will purchase more ceramivac products.
NOT a travel mug, better carry-and-go

Surprised to see the great reviews. Used it once and returned. Great concept, the cup. Terrible design, THE LID. Waited patiently and excitedly for my cup to arrive. Filled with its first coffee, put gently in my shoulder bag, and between house and garage, lid popped off and contents drenched my bag and all its contents. It's the side-tab on the lid, which doesn't allow the lid to stay secure. And on first sip from cup, coffee spilled down my front, because of the large drinking hole. It must be three times wider than the hole in my previous travel cup: the one with a SCREW ON LID.

Returned for a GSI, and love this one.
