2024 Reading Challenge discussion

Hi everyone! Just setting up my member corner here. My reading challenge goal for 2018 is 130. I'll be doing the Serial Reader challenge again next year, and the Mt. TBR challenge in another group. Looking forward to a new year of reading!

Finished my first book of the year, A is for Alibi by Sue Grafton. I started a few books over the weekend but decided this was the one I wanted to finish first for this new year. This one will count toward the Serial Reader challenge but not the TBR challenge since it's a re-read. I'm not sure if I will be able to get through the whole series this year -- I would like to, but I need to make progress on my TBR pile!

Finished book #2 for the year, An Open Spook by E.J. Copperman. This is a series I started reading last year and I'm hoping to get caught up on it this year. This one counts toward my Serial Reader challenge and my Mt. TBR challenge.

Finished book #3 for the year, Wanted by Robert Crais. This one counts toward my Serial Reader challenge, but not my Mt. TBR challenge.

You have finished 3 books already?.... It's January 1st... You really have to teach me how to read that fast! I have so many books on my TBR that I would LOVE to read, but with my reading pace I will need multiple lifetimes to read them all!!!

I started these books last week and finished them today. Also, I got up really early this morning so I have had lots of time to read today!

I am on vacation from work all week and it's below zero temperatures here in Illinois, so don't be surprised if I get a lot of reading done this week!! Normally I only read one book a week if I'm lucky. :)

Finished book #4 for the year, B is for Burglar by Sue Grafton. I really am not planning to read one of this series per day, it's just worked out that way so far! This does not count toward my Mt. TBR challenge since these are re-reads so I need to get some other books done before I start the next one. This does count toward my Serial Reader challenge though.

Finished book #5 for the year, The Twelve Lives of Samuel Hawley by Hannah Tinti. I liked this book but it felt very long. I thought I was never going to finish it. This one does not count toward any of my other challenges.

Finished book #6 for the year, Hail to the Chef by Julie Hyzy. This is a series I started (I think last year, but it might even have been the year before) and never got back to. This one counts toward my Serial Reader challenge and my Mt. TBR challenge.

Finished book #7 for the year, C is for Corpse by Sue Grafton. I'm really getting sidetracked by these books but they are so good! I need to read other books though. This one counts toward my Serial Reader challenge.

I go back to work on Monday so my reading progress will slow down a lot after that :(

Finished book #8 for the year, Old Scores by Will Thomas. I really love this series! This one came out late last year but I saved it for 2018. It counts toward my Serial Reader challenge and my Mt. TBR challenge.

Finished book #9 for the year, The Wedding Dress by Mary O'Donnell. This is one of the Annie's Attic books that I'm so far behind on. I don't know if I'll be able to get caught up on these this year or not, but it's one of my goals. Luckily these books are fairly short and easy to read. This one counts toward my Serial Reader challenge and my Mt. TBR challenge.

Finished book #10 for the year, The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn. Five stars, this book is fantastic! This one does not count toward any other challenges.

Finished book #11 for the year, Crewel World by Monica Ferris. I decided to start re-reading this series since it's been a while. This one counts toward my Serial Reader challenge but does not count toward my Mt. TBR challenge.

Finished book #12 for the year, Shades of Earl Grey by Laura Childs. This one counts toward my Serial Reader challenge and my Mt. TBR challenge :)

Me too! I'm really hoping for a another book with just the two of them. (I didn't care that much about that book all mixed up with the author's other series.)

The alphabet books are re-reads for me, although it's been years since I've read the first ones so it's kind of like reading all new books. Luckily the first 8 or so are pretty short. Then they start getting longer and will take me more time to finish!

I agree about the Maggie and Scott books -- I would enjoy another one that's just the two of them :)

Now I want to relisten to Maggie's book. She's so cute. And I love her POV!!

The POV was what I loved about it too :)

Finished book #14 for the year, 'Salem's Lot by Stephen King. This will probably be the longest book I read all year!

Finished book #15 for the year, The April Fools' Day Murder by Lee Harris. This was a re-read so it doesn't count toward my TBR challenge, but it does count toward my Serial Reader challenge.

Finished book #16 for the year, Framed in Lace by Monica Ferris. This is the second book in the Needlecraft mystery series. This one counts toward my Serial Reader challenge.

Finished book #17, The Perfect Nanny by Leïla Slimani. I gave this book one star which is unheard of for me. I can't remember the last time I even did that, but that's how much I did not like this book.

Finished book #18 for the year, E is for Evidence by Sue Grafton. I read so much today that I feel like I can't focus my eyes on my computer screen!! Going to watch some PBS and then go to bed. This book counts toward my Serial Reader challenge.

Finished book #19 for the year, Without Consent by Kathryn Fox. This one counts toward both of my other challenges.

Finished book #20 for the year, Warcross. I really enjoyed this one! This counts toward both of my other challenges.

Finished book #21 for the year, A Stitch in Time by Monica Ferris. This one counts toward my Serial Reader challenge.

Finished book #22 for the year, A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle. I haven't read this book since I was little and wanted to re-read it before the new movie comes out.

Finished book #23 for the year, Snoop to Nuts by Elizabeth Lee. This book counts toward both of my other challenges.

I'm glad I have made good progress this month. I won't be able to take any vacation days in February, so I won't get as much done then. (Yes, I'm a person who uses vacation days to read!)

Finished book #24 for the year, The Troop by Nick Cutter. I liked this book a lot, but it was sooo disgusting in parts. Very scary! This one counts toward my TBR challenge.

Finished book #25 for the year, Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman. I loved this book!!! This also counts toward my TBR challenge.

Finished book #26 for the year, Unraveled Sleeve by Monica Ferris. This counts toward my Serial Reader challenge.
