The sky is something that has fascinated human beings ever since prehistoric times.
The curiosity to know more about what we see in the sky led to the foundation of Astronomy.
Astronomy is split into observational and theoretical branches.
Observational astronomy focuses on acquiring data from astronomical objects' observations.
Theoretical astronomy focuses on developing computer models to describe astronomical objects.
Are astronomy and astrophysics the same? They are considered synonyms by the majority of people. Some people have indeed found a difference between the two by saying that "astronomy" may be used to describe the qualitative study of the subject, whereas "astrophysics" is used to describe the physics-oriented version of the subject. Based upon the historical affiliation of the subject and degrees of the scientists working in it, they are used interchangeably.
India and China were the pioneers in astronomy during Historic times. This book will help you to know more about many famous personalities who worked in astronomy and various new techniques used for astronomy.
It also mentions quasars. Quasar is an astronomical object of very high luminosity found in the centers of some galaxies and powered by gas spiraling at high velocity into an extremely large black hole
