From the author of the bestselling phenomenon, the Kissing Booth, comes another sizzling story about an overachieving girl who unknowingly kisses the one guy she shouldn’t the night before her new internship begins.

One summer internship. Two complete opposites. And a connection neither expected...

Annalise Sherwood has worked herself to the bone to get a place on a prestigious internship program and nothing is going to stop her now. Work hard, play later, that's her motto. She figures one night letting her guard down won't hurt, though - especially when it ends with the best kiss of her life.

But to Anna's horror, she discovers that the mystery guy she kissed that night is none other than Lloyd, the company CEO's son. Born with a silver spoon in his mouth, he's everyone's favorite guy and a total charmer, swanning around like he owns the place. And from the moment they meet again, he rubs Anna up the wrong way.

As the summer and the internship wane on, Lloyd seems to be finding any excuse to annoy Anna, and she's not afraid to give it right back to him. But when a lot of late night working brings them unexpectedly closer, she begins to wonder if there's more to him than she originally thought..

Thank you NetGalley and Penguin for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I genuinely thought that this book would be right up my street and I was super excited to delve into another romance; unfortunately, it missed the mark for me.

Unlike a lot of the other Goodreads reviews, I actually enjoyed the work side of the story as I felt that it told us a lot about Anna’s personality and we got to see how she & Lloyd interacted with each other in a professional setting as well as in a personal one. However, I strongly feel that the author should have spent more time developing the work storyline & the main romantic relationship as they both felt drastically underdeveloped.

The work side of the story didn’t seem to go anywhere important and the relationship between Lloyd and his family was not paid proper attention to. The romance felt flimsy at best and the back and forth within Anna’s constantly changing mind was entirely too exhausting to enjoy.

The occasional email draft that Anna writes was also a completely unnecessary addition - it made the story feel even more clunky and I really did hate reading them.

Overall, this isn’t a book that I wish to return to and I wouldn’t recommend this for lovers of romance who seek substance & passion in their reads.

Thank you NetGalley for providing me a copy of this book to review.

1.5 ⭐️

As you can see by the rating, I personally was not a fan of this book. I was very disappointed reading it because I was looking forward to reading a cute office romance. Instead, I got a “how to work in an office manual” with the most basic romance between two characters.

Annalise was an insufferable FMC in my opinion. She was self-involved, rude, and very annoying. Straight off the bat in the first few pages, when she’s struggling with getting a bartenders attention, the MMC helps her, and she asks him whether that’s his way of picking up girls and she’s really rude to him but then she’s also lusting after him? And she calls him a creep. How does that make sense?

Lloyd was funny and cute but also didn’t show us much personality throughout the book. But at least he was reasonable and relatable.

The whole “conflict” or animosity between character was forced in my opinion. It’s like the author did not know how to create the tension between the love interests so she gave them the most uninteresting story line with the pettiest conflict which could have been resolved within the first few chapters if the FMC would listen to reason and logic.

At least the writing style was good and didn’t have much problem with it. But the plot and execution of the story has more to be desired.

When Anna secures herself an internship at prestigious company Arrowmile she is determined to prove herself. What she didn’t factor in was falling for Lloyd, the boy she met in a bar just before the summer started.
There’s the expected confusion as both Lloyd and Anna have to come to terms with the things they’d rather people didn’t know. They clearly will end up together but it takes ages to get there.
Things go as expected. The family relationships were undeveloped but give us enough to get things underway.

This book perfectly captures the stresses and strains of the transition from student to working adult, the competitiveness and camaraderie of an office environment, all whilst missing home and family.
From the blurb, Sincerely Yours, Anna Sherwood might seem like a simple romance but it is so much more. The book explores the pressures we put on ourselves or which come from family expectation. Annalise finds that getting the balance between work and life just right and not losing your sense of self in the process can be hard and there are plenty of mistakes to be made along the way. Suitable for adults and older YA.

3/5 eh. idrk what to say. it was kinda boring but i was lowkey invested in the work stuff and also the social stuff which is good. nothing much happened and there def needed to be more scenes of annalise and lloyd, i feel like they barely interacted. OH and whyyy did she write all that stuff on her WORK EMAIL. i knew sum would happen 😔. and it was so embarrassing, like i would not recover from that bro. OH and also, lloyd should’ve understood they couldn’t date, but then when she realised that the internship maybe wasn’t that important, i kinda understood that point too so idk

My first Beth Reekles book and not my last! I was looking forward to this cute office romance and it didn’t disappoint. With a splash of grumpy x sunshine and a little forbidden romance it was right up my street. I loved the inclusion of current popular films and singers. Anna’s character was realistic and relatable, something that is often missing. Her progression throughout was heartwarming.

I just really wish this book would’ve included more of the relationship between Anna and Lloyd! I felt majority of the content was Anna working which became repetitive.

I honestly had no clue what to think of Sincerely Yours, Anna Sherwood , and I think that was probably a good thing because this book ended up surprising me in the most pleasant way. I have read The Kissing Booth in all its versions (including the wattpad version), and if think of that book and this one, I feel like Beth Reekles' writing has evolved so much. Trust me, you can see a very clear different.

With this book, Reekles has managed to capture, very well, the emotions of being in uni and trying to figure out what to do with your life. I could very much relate to Anna and what she was going through and that made me love this book a lot more. Of course, the romance with her and Lloyd was quite nice. They had a very interesting dynamic and I enjoyed reading them banter.

All in all, I think if you are to pick up Sincerely Yours, Anna Sherwood , you will be left pleasantly surprised by it and you will definitely be fully engrossed in the story.

Thank you Penguin UK for providing me an e-ARC through Netgalley!

THIS BOOK. OH MY GOSH. I am obsessed. I am addicted. I want more.
I haven't read a book this big this fast in so long. It was amazing.
Okay, I am going to try and tell you why it was so good but honestly I am not sure if I am able to put it into words.
So, first off, the characters are perfect. Absolutely perfect. Each character (all of the side characters) is perfect for the role they play and the complex relationships keep you hooked throughout. Here, I am going to focus on the two main characters Annalise and Lloyd. I love them. I think I am going to struggle putting into words how perfect they are.
I am going to keep it brief though; Annalise is the perfect representation of a teenage girl (19) who doesn't seem to fit in so works relentlessly on her future (hence her place at the summer internship). Lloyd is super nice to everyone because he is just a great person but he is also hiding stuff that Annalise wants to find out.
In the most spoiler-free way, their relationship is a story of messing things up and first love and discovery. 10000000% recommend.

For me this was a super cute read, that I found super easy to read. This book contains many tropes but the main ones that I noticed in this book were Opposites Attract, Grumpy x sunshine and Workplace romance.

I love reading a workplace romance so this was a very pleasant and enjoyable read that once I really got into the story it was really hard to stop reading.

I did find the beginning a little slow but other than that I really enjoyed it

Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced copy for an honest review.

The premise of this book sounded like it would be right up my street. Two people get together and then she finds out he's her bosses son - a classic. I definitely did enjoy the first meeting of the two main characters.
But after then, it fell apart for me.
Annalise is annoyed that Lloyd pretends not to know her, despite his reasons for doing so are incredibly valid. There is so much mundane 'work chat' about this company that I had no reason to care for other than it being 'a good place to be'. Apparently it was something around scooters?
I found the beats of the plot really predictable (even beyond normal rom-com tropes) and found the main characters really unlikable by the end.
Good concept, but didn't enjoy the execution.

i realized i am not a fan of grumpy x sunshine, but all in all i liked the book

pros:
-the whole book was very well written, especially the kiss scenes
-lloyd was super sweet
-all the characters were understandable and i liked most of them
-the character descriptions weren’t too much or not enough
-i liked the ending
-i loved the email drafts and everything made sense
-the ending was not too predictable

cons:
-annalise was getting on my nerves from time to time
-could have been shorten by 75 pages
-i wish there would have been more places where the book takes place, not just the office
-some words gave me the ick (“jinx”, “he cupped my cheek”, “ohmigod”)
-i wanted to scream at them “JUST KISS ALREADY” a lot of times

This book is cute. Like a little ice cream cone with no sauce. But it is what it is and doesn’t everyone like ice cream?

My favourite character is Anna’s anxiety. How she’d worry about ‘what if the card didn’t work getting in the office’ pleased my own anxiety – she likes to be seen.

I liked Anna and Lloyd. You can tell this is an author with experience because this is a book where the words become - you just seeing it happen. The tension for romance was so good. Everything was done with such a light touch – easy, breezy, covergirl.

If you are a spice girly this may feel bland because although something is shown in essence this is fade to black. Be warned.

I don’t mind the lack of spice when, like this book it is enough for me to still understand and feel their relationship. Will I ever find the perfect juncture position between romance and smutt?

Set in London, I liked: The office culture. The little twists. How their relationship and just them as people revealing themselves on the page.

Describe book in a sentence: Will bake you a cake a discuss relationship dynamics with you.

You may like this book if: Love a cute romance which focuses on who they are and slowly burns that candle away.

You may not like this book if: You require spice. If you like blockbuster plots.

The story follows Anna who has earned one of 15 places on a prestigious summer internship following her first year of uni. On the first weekend settling in all of the interns go out as an icebreaker before the internship starts where she meets Lloyd and the two have an intimate connection, sharing secrets and a kiss only to part ways thinking they would never see each other again. Things don’t go to plan however when on the first day in her new role Anna find out that Lloyd is actually the CEO’s son.
The book follows her journey over the 12 week internship, working hard to show she deserves a place at the company whilst also trying to ignore her connection with Lloyd and failing.
A great book that kept me engaged throughout showing the difficulty of finding a place in the world between work, love and family.

This is my second Beth Reekles book, and I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed it!

This book is about Annalise (or rather Anna) Sherwood, who has just secured a spot for an internship at a top company. Ambitious and determined to succeed, Anna won’t allow anything to distract her from excelling in her role this summer. Enter Lloyd Fletcher. A cute guy she meets on an ice-breaker night out with the rest of the interns. They spend a magical summer evening together wandering the streets of London. After they say goodbye, Anna is convinced they won’t cross paths again. That is until she officially starts her internship and realises that the cute guy she met is actually the boss’s son…and he is surprisingly infuriating and nothing like whom she thought he was. However, as work projects see them spending more time together, lines are blurred and Anna realises having a summer of no distractions might be a lot harder than she initially thought.

The characters and relationships were written really well in Sincerely Yours, Anna Sherwood. I was expecting this book to be a fluffy, lighthearted read, and although it was, there was also a lot of depth to it. Anna is quite a complex character who undergoes excellent character development that is explored in a realistic manner. She’s diligent, ambitious, and determined to forge a successful career for herself. However, she struggles to make friends and feels like a bit of an outcast. She also grapples with coming to terms with her mom walking out on them when she was younger, placing her career above her family. I thought the author balanced Anna’s desire to be successful with her fear of becoming like her mother really well. Anna did frustrate me quite a lot at times - I thought she was unnecessarily snappy with Lloyd and her behaviour towards him was quite unfair at times; she also blew hot and cold quite a lot. HOWEVER, the author did an excellent job of examining why Anna behaved like that, and furthermore, Anna was self-aware enough to realise some of her destructive tendencies and proactive in changing them. I think a lot of people will resonate with Anna in that discomfort of recognising parts of ourselves we don’t like, but having grace with ourselves as we unlearn those behaviours.

Then there was Lloyd, who - I’ve got to hand it to him - was incredibly gracious and patient with Anna. There were several times I thought he would call her out, but he extended grace and kindness to her which was really sweet! He was also quite a complex character. He was a human golden retriever (most of the time), yet he also grappled with the stress of knowing he was the future of his dad’s company and also wanting to forge his own path.

There were also several secondary characters featured in Sincerely Yours, Anna Sherwood. Mainly the other interns but also Anna’s family. Although there were a lot of secondary characters, most of them had very unique personalities, and it was easy to differentiate between them. Again, going back to Anna’s development, I loved the progress of how she allowed herself to open up more to the other interns and pursued friendships with them. It was bordering on the “found family” trope towards the end of the book, which I absolutely loved!

I also thought the author wrote the family dynamics aspect very well and navigated the love and respect we have for our family, but also the pain and disappointment that can exist alongside that, with acute perception and tenderness.

Lloyd and Anna’s romance was obviously a big part of this book, but if I’m being honest, a lot of the time it was really frustrating to read. As I mentioned earlier, Anna would often blow hot and cold and there would be a lot of misunderstandings. Things would go well between her and Lloyd, but then everything would kind of implode. Is that typical of the enemies-to-lovers trope? I haven’t read much of that, so maybe that is characteristic of it, I’m not sure. Things did improve midway through the book though, including how their dynamics were written. I also liked how the author focussed on them getting to know each other slowly, as well as learning the multiple facets of their personalities. I also appreciated that it was quite a realistic relationship in the sense that it wasn’t all rainbows and butterflies. There were hard conversations, misunderstandings, apologies and taking accountability, which I loved seeing represented in a romance book!

The writing, plot, and pacing were done quite well too! This is a pretty chunky book, nearing 500 pages (according to Goodreads). There were parts, especially at the beginning of the book, that lagged a little bit, but after that, the pacing really picked up and I flew through the book. Last night I said to myself “Kyra, only read a couple of chapters, you have to get up early for work”…but I ended up reading the last 200 pages. There were several things that ended up happening in this book that made it impossible to put down. I also really liked the author’s writing style. It flowed easily, the dialogue felt natural, and I was able to get swept up into the story.

Another thing I really liked was that this book featured characters who were in university/working. It’s so hard to find books that navigate that stage of life, and I thought the author discussed the strange nature of navigating early adulthood really well. I also liked that although I guess this was technically a new adult book, it was fairly clean. There was a sex scene (which I skipped), but that one instance was about it.

Sincerely Yours, Anna Sherwood was a fun enemies-to-lovers novel that I would recommend to anyone who loves realistic contemporary novels that feature the ups-and-downs of first love, found family, excellent character development, and messy but real family dynamics.

*Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC ebook in exchange for an honest review*

Beth Reekles has written a very polished story that follows the trials and tribulations of being 18, 19 and having that first taste of the adult world. Reekles skilfully articulates the worries and anxieties of starting an internship in the corporate world and as a reader who has experienced the stress of starting an internship in a big company or having to find work experience, I can relate to the way that Annalise feels and thinks. The novel started with an interesting, albeit predictable, premise where two strangers connect and kiss and then both discover they work in the same company. The way that Annalise is angry at Lloyd for pretending they didn't know each other was unfair, his reasons were completely valid and was doing her favour. So she could show how good she was at the job and her skills, instead of her hard work and success being attached to Lloyd. This was a sticking point when reading as tension and conflict was made out of nothing.

The writing style is very polished and concise, I did find that there was too much 'work chat' of what Annalise's day-to-day tasks were and this became repetitive and irrelevant to the wider story. This made the pace a little off. The romance between Lloyd and Annalise was patchy. I didn't feel that they were a good fit and Annalise became annoying at always taking out her frustrations or inadequacies on Lloyd. On the other side of this, Lloyd was always the one trying to help and being pushed back and I don't think he should have returned back to the relationship as quickly as he should. Due to the first person narrative, the reader is presented with a one sided view and it would have been nice to see Lloyd's side of the story to have a deeper connection to his character. I also felt that their romance was too polished and too structured to be believable at points. The novel's villain, Tasha. is one that the reader is hinted at as too smug or too calculating, but this is only from Annalise's perspective. I think having her fellow interns discuss this character throughout the narrative would have been beneficial to creating a deeper understanding of their motives and personality. Also, if Annalise and Tasha had worked together at points during the internship instead of being on separate teams the reader could understand their dynamics and see how Tasha tries to undermine Annalise in a competitive way. Otherwise Tasha's motives are vague and told to the reader rather than shown.

Overall, this is well-written and structured novel that artfully explores the anxieties and messy start to the working world that graduates and students can experience. I would have liked a deeper exploration on the other interns to create a bigger picture of their friendships and a better cohesion of all the various pieces of conflict like Tasha, Annalise's mother and her romance with Lloyd.

In the acknowledgments, the author says that ‘This book is a bit of a love letter to tropes; to first love and finding yourself; and a little bit to London’, and I think this perfectly sums up the story. It’s about a young person who thinks she knows everything only to get shaken on everything she believes.

Annalise Sherwood has won a place on a prestigious internship even though she’s just finished her first year of university. She’s laser focussed; this is the first step to what she wants in life post-education. Except there’s one complication, she hasn’t counted on meeting a nice boy and really connecting – and she really hasn’t counted on that boy being the CEO’s son. Anna hasn’t got time for boys, and she especially can’t date the boss’s son, it’ll jeopardise everything she’s worked for, right?

Anna annoyed me from the go BUT I’m glad I kept reading. Anna’s very self-righteous and quite frankly a bit of a fun sponge, she’s also very miserly for a middle class 19-year-old. However, she grows and develops a lot through the story which is really well done. I think one of the reasons Anna bothers me so much is that my younger, not yet jaded by corporate life, self would probably have thought similarly which is irksome but good writing. I will say that I never really got Anna and Lloyd as a soulmates level couple – I think she’s pretty awful to him and he’s quite nice; but Anna’s doubts about the situation, the impact it would have on her reputation, are totally warranted and that’s the ugly truth of being a woman in male dominated spaces.

This isn’t an enemies to lovers book, it’s more a ‘I like you but stuff gets in the way’ love story and the love story part is actually quite frustrating, though pleasantly spicy at times. It’s a sweet book, I enjoyed the second half a lot more than the first and I really liked the ending.

Things I loved:

- The reference to Hamilton
- Elle Woods being Anna’s feminist icon (and her pink dress)
- The high cost of saying yes to everything at work
- The friendships between the interns
- Lloyd

Things I didn’t love so much:

- The romantic lead being named Lloyd
- The way Anna treats Lloyd yet he still likes her
- The romantisication of toxic work culture
-Anna

After enjoying Beach Cute, I'm surprised at how hard I had to slog to finish this book. It was amateurish, repetitive, and far too long. It was off from the get go.

The book opens with a kick-off party at a bar for the new college interns at a top tier firm. Anna ends up meeting a guy, sharing a kiss, and then realizing on Monday morning he is the son of the CEO. In her mind he ignores her and the book becomes 400 pages of Katy Perry's song "Hot and Cold." It's scene after scene of getting together, then calling it off, getting together, then calling it off. Ad nauseum. No part of it was enjoyable for me.

From the get-go the plot is all wrong. Anna, a self-proclaimed social outcast, befriends Lloyd, shares far too many personal details, and ends up kissing him. The story climaxes in chapter 2. And the end of chapter 3 can be seen a mile away. Everything is exactly what you expect to happen, and yet is not what realistically WOULD happen, which makes the whole thing doubly disappointing. Anna is beyond annoying as a character. She blames Lloyd for kissing her as if she had no part in it. She sulks when he doesn't fawn over her, but just as quickly pushes him away when he does. Who wants to be friends with someone like that, let alone date her? Lloyd is just as bad and it's not even his fault. It's the author's fault. He's not consistent. His personality is all over the place. He shows up everywhere like a stalker and yet he's often described as ecocentric. Sometimes he's a nice guy, sometimes and angry guy, sometimes a sarcastic guy. He just doesn't square.

As for the "hot and cold" aspect, that's because there's always an incongruence. Anna likes Loyd, then doesn't. She thinks he should be doting, then she doesn't. And don't get me started on the runaround that involves her mother. All trite and banal.

I need a real break after this book.

I admit that I've never read anything by Beth Reckless, but I'm very familiar with her name. Her fame precedes her.

Sincerely yours, Anna Sherwood is the perfect cuddly novel.
It's the story of Anna and Llyod (I admit that every time I read his name, the image of Harry Styles' photographer popped up in my mind. So for me now he is the main character in this book), is a very sweet and smooth story to read.
It all begins one evening when Anna gets the best kiss of her life, only to find out that person is the son of the boss where she is about to attend an internship.

I can't tell you, I loved Llyod's constant prodding of Anna, their email exchanges, and their dialogue.
I don't understand the pretext the author used to get them to fight, in my opinion it is a bit weak, but overall it is a novel I highly recommend.

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin for a digital review copy of this book.

This is the story of an over-achieving girl who freaks out after unknowingly kissing the son of the CEO at her summer internship the night before the prestigious job starts. Anna has always been socially awkward and unsure how to read people and situations. She managed to get an amazing internship, though she lied about her age to get it. The night before she starts, she meets Lloyd, a cute guy who she is actually comfortable with. They part, never expecting to see each other again (yeah, sure). When she sees him the next morning, he pretends he is meeting her for the first time and she takes it the wrong way. Actually, everything about him rubs her the wrong way until they start working together more and realize just how much they have in common.

Some think of this as a work-place romance story. I consider it more of a coming of age story for both characters that happens to take place in an office. Both are not yet adults, both are dealing with how they view themselves as well as how they are viewed by others. Lloyd might appear to be the golden boy, but his own father brushes him off on a regular basis. Anna lives in the shadow of a mother who left her, choosing work over family. There is also the jealous co-worker who doesn't do the work but wants all of the attention. Being the exact opposite of Anna of course means that she figures into Anna's story, forcing her to grow up and own up to her feelings.

This was an enjoyable story that I could see being great for older YA readers and adults alike.

Anna meets a guy the weekend before her internship, and he turns out to be the boss's son and chaos ensues. Anna is a character I'm conflicted on. She has some great moments, especially around her relationship with her mother, but she definitely had moments that made her difficult to like.

The second I saw the first email draft, I knew what was going to happen. For a smart girl, Anna does some stupid things. Not to mention trying to keep their thing a secret while allowing him into the flat she shares with the other interns.

Lloyd, the boss's son, is a sweetie, I wish the book was dual POV so we could see inside his head. Especially during the conversations we know he has with his brother. I think he compliments Anna really well, and the moments when they're being themselves are very cute.

There's a lot of miscommunication in this book, and it's one of my least favourite tropes, which is why I've decided to give the book 3 stars. I feel like the drama between Anna and Lloyd was unnecessary when the book already had a 3rd act conflict around the emails. That being said, I loved the authors' book the summer switch-off, and I will most likely pick up others as well.

I received an advance review copy of this book, and this review represents my honest opinion. Thank you to netgalley, Beth Reekles, and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.

"Sincerely Yours, Anna Sherwood" written by Beth Reekles, is not just a simple romance. It's a beautifully woven story that dives deep into the complexities of transitioning from student life to the world of work. It captures the competitive yet camaraderie-laden office environment and the longing for home and family.
Annalise's journey illustrates the pressures of personal expectations and family demands. The book resonates with adults and older young adults, addressing the delicate balance between work and life, and the inevitable mistakes made along the way.

Set in London during a summer internship at Arrowmile, an eco-friendly vehicle company, the story introduces Anna and Lloyd, whose connection takes readers on a heartwarming yet tumultuous ride. The authenticity of their relationship and the nuances of office romance are beautifully portrayed. Anna's struggle to prove herself in the corporate world while navigating her feelings for Lloyd portrays the challenge of finding one's place in the realms of work, love, and family.

In conclusion, "Sincerely Yours, Anna Sherwood" is a four-star read, perfect for college students seeking an engaging escape into the intricacies of adulthood and the heart. Thanks to Netgalley and Penguin for providing the ARC.

Thank you NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for my honest review.
Love & Lattes was the quick cute summer read that I needed.
I love everything about this book- the dynamics with the MC's friends, family and co-workers. I love the character development throughout the book- the author does such a fantastic job of really making you care about not only the MC but also the side characters. I saw so much of myself in the main character. This would be such a great book for high school kids to read so they can get a glimpse of college and internships and work life even though this is clearly a fictional work. I also highly recommend this book to anyone who is a "people pleaser" or a "workaholic". The thing that really makes this book stand out is the epilogue which catches the reader up on what the characters are up to several years after the main story ended and ties everything up in a neat little package with a bow. All that to say, this is a great book and definitely worth the read.
(Side note: my only complaint is that I would say the title and cover art doesn't really match the vibe and content of the book. I would've gone with something more to do with office/work/internship and cake with plates of multiple types of cakes on the cover.)
