Meet William Drew Faro the 4th -- a human from Khareton's TriGrace Academy -- and Trikura Dai -- a rock-chewing space-faring Chenri who is definitely not of this world! Now imagine a star-spanning civilization where information is bought, sold, and bartered, where scary dimensional folds allow hyperlfight between stars, and where a young terran student information broker has been given the OK to "go farshloggin" -- to take up the path that will permit him "walk Osara" with the Chenri, the canniest information brokers of them all. He's willing. He faces pirates, politics, police, and plots. All he has to do is survive... In Master Walk, award-winning science fiction authors Sharon Lee and Steve Miller bring a new YA universe to life. Introducing The Advocacy, a rough-and-tumble civilization that has a mix of sentient races and a lot to learn!

Sharon Lee has been married to her first husband for more than half her lifetime; she is a friend to cats, a member of the National Carousel Association, and oversees the dubious investment schemes of an improbable number of stuffed animals.

Despite having been born in a year of the dragon, Sharon is an introvert. She lives in Maine because she likes it there. In fact, she likes it so much that she has written five novels set in Maine; contemporary fantasy trilogy Carousel Tides, Carousel Sun, Carousel Seas, and mysteries Barnburner and Gunshy.

With the aforementioned first husband, Steve Miller, Sharon has written twenty novels of science fiction and fantasy — many of them set in the Liaden Universe® — and numerous short stories. She has occasionally been an advertising copywriter, a reporter, photographer, book reviewer, and secretary. She was for three years Executive Director of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, Inc., and was subsequently elected vice president and then president of that organization.

I enjoyed this much more than I had initially though as I started to read it. Quite good, I wish there were more of this series.

Short and fabulous

I am not sure yet if there are more stories written by Miller and Lee in this universe. I hope so, this one hooked me right off the bat and I would love to see where these fascinating characters take me.

I found this an interesting tale, but not one of those I would put away to re-read. Three more words.

The title says that this is "Tales of the Advocacy #1." Where is #2? Where? I want it!

This is a chapbook and an fairly quick read. Within it, the amazing Miller & Lee writing team manages to create and develop an entirely new alternate universe, explain the rules by which it operates, introduce two sympathetic protagonists, and tell a darned good story. For me, it ended too soon, and I want more.

Unexpected joy

In all my searching for any unread book by Sharon and Steve, I had never spotted this title until now. It was a delight. New speculations with some old themes. I suspect there will be no more, but I will keep wishing.
