Could you imagine being in high school with your dad as the football coach? Oh heavens that would be interesting. This book had me thinking about my daughters because my hubby was an assistant principal at our local high school for several years and we'd talked about what it would be like for our daughters when they started going to school there and having dad be the assistant principal. We had lots of great scenarios thought up, especially when it came to boys. I have all daughters so definitely the thought of boys is pretty big in my household. And dating them, ugh, I don't even want to go there yet. Unfortunately my hubby has been moved to a position in our school district office and not at the high school anymore so our daughters don't get the privilege of attending school with dad always there to watch over them (and those boys). But the rest of the teachers and staff and students watch out for our girls because they all know who they are. Lol! No messing up or secrets for them.
With that aspect of my life being similar to this storyline, I had a blast listening to this. My teenage daughters and younger daughters did as well. So much fun. Every chance they had, they asked if they could listen to it. We had many laughs and a couple frustration moments while listening. But it was definitely worth all the emotions. This would be a fun road trip book to listen to with the family (especially if they're all girls...just saying ;-) ).
I'm looking forward to the next two books in this series, Rule #2 and Rule #3. Should be lots of fun! If you're not sure about YA, take a chance on this one. If you are a YA lover, this would definitely be right up your alley!

No pude más con la actitud de los protas. Me sacaron de quicio sus comportamientos Ella era una tipa muy boba y sin carácter que se la pasaba soñando por un tipo que no le da la hora del día y solo se le acerca cuando le conviene. Encima era él es más y yo menos y por eso él no puede estar con alguien como yo que le restaría por dios.
Y él un idiota que le pide que lo ayude a pasar una materia pero es de esos que piensa que la persona que lo va ayudar hace milagros así que para qué poner atención en clase? mejor paso el tiempo coqueteando con una chica. Y la otra boba muriéndose por eso y viendo su actitud varias veces de no poner atención y aún sigue adelante con ayudarle.
Súmale que el chico de repente sale y la besa y luego le dice que lo olvide, se le acerca la toca y luego se disculpa y eso pasa varias veces y la boba todo Bien aunque la hace sentir mal.
Y el padre hipócrita y controlador con su hija de que no se le acerque a ningún chico porque para él eso solo terminaría con su hija embarazada así que le prohíbe hablar con el sexo opuesto pero él si andaba de picaflor con varias mujeres y hasta con la profe su hija que se la llevaba para la casa y no lo ocultaba pero su hija le preguntaba y su respuesta es que él era un adulto y por eso puede hacerlo.
De verdad que fue insoportable esta historia aquí tanto ella, el chico y el padre eran unos tremendos idiotas.

1.5 stars- I didn’t have high expectations about this book and yet I was still disappointed. The plot was a good idea just poorly executed. There were so many serious issues raised (abandonment, alcoholism) that were not resolved satisfactorily. They just magically fixed themselves in a matter of days. Like *poof* and problems were gone.
The characters were so underdeveloped that I found their feelings and bond hard to believe. There were so many things missing to make this story believable/convincing that I was just left trying to fill in major plot holes and discrepancies that the characters seemed to overcome.
Everything just seemed too far fetched and rushed for me to enjoy it. Also the level of angst made for a lot of unnecessary drama that was just glossed over at the end.

It was a cute story. Wasn't really long enough for me to feel a huge connection with the characters, but I still enjoyed it. Both of the mc's had a rough go of it, but it was really sweet to watch them confide in each other about it. I think I would've gone crazy over it if I had read this in highschool.

Some rules are made to be broken...
I'm in such a mood for high school romances and this one was a lot of fun. I can't even imagine going to the same school where my dad was the football coach, but that's what Destiny (aka Tiny) does. And Rule #1? No talking to, flirting with, or dating the coach's daughter. With her eye on the quarterback, and her new chemistry lab partner, Tyson, this rule may just become broken.
Tiny comes across as very awkward and shy at first, but once she gains her confidence, she's a force to be reckoned with. Tyson is hard to read--does he like her or not? Is he a serial flirter or not? As the story breaks down and personal details are revealed, the characters true colors are shown and first impressions aren't always accurate.
There are two mingling love stories in this book and I love the way they are interconnected and gradually develop. The sometimes fragile relationship between Tiny and her dad is endearing as they go through the journey of their story. They have such a bond and there are factors that arise that threaten to destroy Tiny and her connections, especially with her dad, which really adds to the flavor of the book.
I'm definitely going to continue on with the series because this book was so cute and fun, and it hit that sweet spot.

Too Short to Deal With Major Issues
The book was well written and YA predictable, but some serious issues were brought up and fixed almost instantly. It sort of annoyed me. Abandonment, alcoholism, fear of rejection, raising your siblings, control issues, etc. But like a 1980s sitcom, everything was fixed by the end of the book. In like less than a month's time, maybe three weeks? Maybe two?
And then another plot line was happening in the background about her friend dating a drop out, and the main girl was too caught up in her own world to say more than a paragraph or two about it. I thought the author was setting up the storyline for the next book, but nope. Maybe book three?
Just, don't go so deep when the book is so shallow!

So Cute!
What a cute YA romance! It's on the younger side, high school age characters, dealing with school and family issues. I thought the story progressed well and I enjoyed getting to know the characters. This is a quick read. Light, easy. Clean.

cute and predictable.
Now I've never been a coach's daughter and I don't even know if this rule even exists or is a thing - but it was adorable. In Rule #1: You Can't Date the Coach's Daughter, you will meet Destiny and Tyson. Tyson is a football player and Destiny is the daughter of the coach. Of course that means she is completely off limits.. but when they get their golden opportunity, aka chemistry class, will they take the dive into relationship world? Or will they keep following the rules?
At first, Destiny and Tyson were a bit annoying to me. However, I kept with the book and eventually started to like them. Even though I ended up liking them, I feel like things were progressing really weird for them. It was either too fast or too slow and it was annoying me. Plus the whole hot and cold in the beginning was meh.
Other than that, I feel like a few things were a bit weird and others were portrayed really well. For example, Destiny and her Dad's interactions were just eh. Then the whole best friend dating a drop out but then nothing else about it is mentioned?
Overall, it was an okay and cute book.

I thought this was cute. A change of genre from the author’s usual style and I believe it was a change for the good. This style suits her. It was well-written, clean, had an element of romance to it and had a good plot. I liked it. Recommended.

This was so adorable. It really was. I haven't read this author before so I didn't really have many expectations going into this one. I was pleasantly surprised with a charming love story that melted my heart.
Anne-Marie Meyer has a very easy-to-read storytelling style. I liked that I could pick the book up and feel right at home. The plot of the story was interesting and played out nicely. The execution was perfect aside from the feeling that the book needed a little more detail in some areas. There wasn't a whole lot of world-building outside of characters but this was in a high school setting so I didn't need to use my imagination for that.
Destiny's character was one that I waffled with liking in the beginning. There were things about her character that irked me and then there were times when I could really empathize with her. Ultimately, I feel that made her very realistic. The same can be said for Tyson. It was easy for me to put myself in his shoes even if he didn't always do what I would do. There weren't that many secondary characters but I really liked the ones that made an appearance. I felt like the book lacked depth because of the lack of secondary characters though. Tyson didn't even have a best friend which I thought was so odd for a popular high school boy. It seemed like he should at least have acquaintances or people that he was friendly with at school. While there was a lack of depth, the main characters did have some nice character growth and much of it was rather touching.
The romance was, quite frankly, the cutest freaking thing. I was really shipping Tyson and Destiny from the start. They had some great chemistry right from the beginning, even if Destiny tended to be a bundle of awkwardness at the start. I loved how organically their relationship developed. You could see their relationship forming and their feelings growing by the page. They spend time together and they shared parts about their lives that no one else saw. I loved it!
Overall, this was a clean and absolutely adorable teen romance that I very much enjoyed reading. If you are looking for a quick read in this genre then I recommend picking this one up. The book may not be perfect but there is so much to like about it.

I love my super ultra light contemporary books
Ugh this book was so cute, and Tyson was such a flirt omg. I really liked Tiny up until 3/4 of the book because she was just selfish as hell, and so whinny and shit 😭 but I loved her most of it and also the ending. UGH I just need this to happen to me 😔👎🏽

This was a good book. I am so glad she confronted her feelings and grew up. The ending was definitely a HEA and I’m so glad it was.

This book was really cute. Tyson is the popular boy in school, Destiny has a crush on him. When their chemistry teacher paired them for chemistry class, Tyson asks for destiny to help him in chemistry. They soon started to spend more time and gradually grow feelings. But the problem is Destiny's father has strict rules of dating ban for her daughter and he is also the football coach.
Tyson is the best player in the team but he can't lose his scholarship because the coach won't approve his relationship with Destiny and he is afraid he would be kicked out of the tram. They part ways but Destiny has a hard time over this. I loved how the author portrayed destiny's struggle. She became mean and starts to push people away. But eventually, she realized her mistake and decided to make everything right. She helped her dad to reconcile with her chemistry teacher Angelica as she was the reason they had broken up. Then, she tells Tyson her fear of abundance and tells him she was wrong. They both declare their feelings and reconcile.
The best character was Tyson's sister Cori. She was so cute. I really enjoyed the book.

This book was mostly meh for me. All the characters seemed pretty cliché, the main character was kind of annoying, the plot was as boring as they come, and every problem was resolved in 5 pages. It was short, so I can understand a more condensed plot, but there was pretty much no plot at all. I’m not even sure what the main conflict was, considering how quickly everything was fixed. There were parts that were cute, but overall, it just felt pretty lackluster. (Also, this is pretty irrelevant to the book as a whole, but there were a couple typos that were driving me crazy.) 2.5/5 ⭐️

Um die "Rules of Love"-Reihe von Bestseller-Autorin Anne-Marie Meyer bin ich schon eine ganze Weile herumgeschlichen, konnte mich aber lange nicht überwinden, da ich von den Covern doch eher abgeschreckt war. Mittlerweile konnte ich mich jedoch überwinden und habe mir direkt die ersten vier Bände gekauft, um einen kleinen Einblick in die Reihe zu erhalten und ich muss sagen, dass ich letztendlich gar nicht so abgeschreckt bin.
"Date nie die Tochter des Coachs", Band 1 der Reihe, liest sich leicht und flüssig und aufgrund der Länge kann man das Buch zwischendurch oder auch an einem verregneten Nachmittag in einem Rutsch durchlesen. Die Dialoge zwischen den jeweiligen Protagonisten sind meistens authentisch und immer mit einem Augenzwinkern versehen. Besonders die Gespräche zwischen Destiny - genannt Tiny - und dem Football-Star der Schule Tyson sind oft sehr sarkastisch, aber auch ganz niedlich. Was hier jedoch leider zu kurz kommt, ist eine gewisse Tiefe. Die Geschichte ist zwar insgesamt ganz süß, allerdings kratzt die Autorin sowohl inhaltlich als auch bei den Figuren meist nur an der Oberfläche, was dann doch sehr schade ist, weil man aus der Sports Romance mehr hätte herausholen können.
Die Geschichte ist schnell erzählt: Destinys Vater ist der Coach des hiesigen Football-Teams an ihrer Highschool. Obwohl ihr Vater sehr viel von seiner Mannschaft hält, gibt es für ihn jedoch eine goldene Regel, denn Destiny darf niemanden aus dem Team daten. Wenn man es allerdings ganz genau nehmen möchte, darf Destiny überhaupt keinen Jungen daten oder gar mit ihm reden. Da hat er jedoch die Rechnung ohne Tyson gemacht, der sich nur sehr schwer von Destiny fernhalten kann. Damit beide keine Schwierigkeiten bekommen, versuchen sie ihre Anziehungskraft zu ignorieren, was jedoch alles andere als leicht ist.
Wenn man ganz ehrlich ist, wurde mit "Date nie die Tochter des Coachs" definitiv nicht das Rad neu erfunden. Vielmehr entpuppte sich die Geschichte als oberflächliche und vorhersehbare Geschichte, die mit einer Protagonistin ausgestattet wurde, die oft nur durch unnötige und unvorhersehbare Wutausbrüche und schmollen auffällt. Dennoch hat die Geschichte einen gewissen Reiz, den für zwischendurch ist diese wirklich ganz nett.
Wenn man also nicht zu viel von "Date nie die Tochter des Coachs" erwartet und allgemein mit Klischees und Kitsch leben kann, findet man hier eine ganz nette, kurzweilige Geschichte vor, die man sich durchaus mal gönnen kann.

Die Geschichte ist schnell erzählt: Destinys Vater ist der Coach des hiesigen Football-Teams an ihrer Highschool. Obwohl ihr Vater sehr viel von seiner Mannschaft hält, gibt es für ihn jedoch eine goldene Regel, denn Destiny darf niemanden aus dem Team daten. Wenn man es allerdings ganz genau nehmen möchte, darf Destiny überhaupt keinen Jungen daten oder gar mit ihm reden. Da hat er jedoch die Rechnung ohne Tyson gemacht, der sich nur sehr schwer von Destiny fernhalten kann. Damit beide keine Schwierigkeiten bekommen, versuchen sie ihre Anziehungskraft zu ignorieren, was jedoch alles andere als leicht ist.
Wenn man ganz ehrlich ist, wurde mit "Date nie die Tochter des Coachs" definitiv nicht das Rad neu erfunden. Vielmehr entpuppte sich die Geschichte als oberflächliche und vorhersehbare Geschichte, die mit einer Protagonistin ausgestattet wurde, die oft nur durch unnötige und unvorhersehbare Wutausbrüche und schmollen auffällt. Dennoch hat die Geschichte einen gewissen Reiz, den für zwischendurch ist diese wirklich ganz nett.
Wenn man also nicht zu viel von "Date nie die Tochter des Coachs" erwartet und allgemein mit Klischees und Kitsch leben kann, findet man hier eine ganz nette, kurzweilige Geschichte vor, die man sich durchaus mal gönnen kann.

You guys this book is so stinkin cute! I loved it so much. The two main characters Tyson and Destiny were literally so cute. I love them both so much. This was a fun, easy, and cute read. We see the story unfold through Destiny’s eyes and it’s so interesting to go through all the emotions with her. Like the confusion of the back and forth, the mixed signals. All of it. I love how Tyson lets her in and you see his feeling begin to show. The way he didn’t want to lie to her dad because he understood the boundaries he set. But oh my the things and feelings that boy makes us feel. One moment I’m all in love with him and the next I want to shake him for his indecisiveness. Destiny’s fears of relationships and love begin to show in the end because of what her dad installed in her, but the way she overcomes them is so sweet!! Omg my favorite parts where they spent time with his little sister. Tyson with his sister was the cutest thing ever. It melted my heart. I love them and this story.

For those of you with taste who remained, it was delightful with an honest look into the relationship of an over-protective father and daughter, a charming banter between the coach's daughter and the quarterback, and, of course, the forbidden romance. It kind of reminded me of a lite "I'll Be Yours" by Jenny B. Jones.
Anyway, for some sweet, clean, romantic fun, look no further.

I wasn't sure about reading this book at first. High school romance wasn't a genre I was up for. But, as I've admired Ms. Meyer's other works, I thought I'd give it a try. If it was rubbish, which it's not, then I could always bow out early.
That didn't happen. The characters were engaging, the obstacles true, and the turmoils of teenage love real. I was pleasantly surprised and happy to read this tale beginning to end.
I look forward to the next book in the series.

I had very low expectations for this book and it still didn’t end up meeting them. It had a good plot to build on and yet I feel like the author didn’t. This is the first book that I’ve read by this author and to be completely honest I didn’t like her writing style. I do plan on reading more of this series in the future so I do hope that the author changes my mind about her writing but at the moment I’m not in a rush to read any more of her work. There were so many serious issues in this book including alcoholism and abandonment issues but I feel as if the writer chose to not touch on the issues and sort of brush it off. This story had so much potential to be one of my favorite cliche types of books that I’d recommend to my friends but the whole story was poorly executed and I can’t see myself recommending it to anyone.

2.5 I had high hopes for it, I wanted to love it, but it was just okay. Good idea for a story, it just didn’t feel complete. Both the story and the characters were underdeveloped. This made the story seem choppy and really juvenile. It had potential it just didn’t reach. It went too fast in some areas, too slow in others but mostly each segment of the story felt rushed and unfinished. It was hard to believe what the characters were saying and feeling when everything felt like it was happening too soon. Not to mention the ridiculous responses both Destiny and her father had about several situations. I am not sure if I want to read the next book, or try a different series by the author. It was a sweet story and I want to give her a chance.

Now that I have had time to think about this I would say this had a storyline that has been done before and done amazingly. Where this went wrong was underdevelopment. That is the huge issue with this book. The story, the characters, and their love were all underdeveloped that it was unbelievable and had a rushed feeling.
