update: new list for 2023 because it was getting too long oops-
- YA contemporary by BS: how can that much yearning even fit into a 200 page book?!
- YA historical fantasy by HD aka This Ravenous Fate: idk who is more feral right now—me or the characters (def the characters).
- YA comedic mystery by CLM aka Pride or Die: yes i believe in the holy trinity! (gays, chaos, and attempted murder)
one day i will be able to add these to goodreads and persuade everyone into reading them, but for now i'm just gonna start tracking them lol.

This book is EVERYTHING to me.
A story about a girl with a starlit soul and wind in her heart. A girl who feels out of place and a step behind, but a girl who finds her place despite the sacrifices it takes.
I laughed and cried. And though this book was just a beta read, wow I want to own four editions of it and have cover art and fan art and character art and a sequel.
One of the best alpha/beta reads I've ever had the pleasure of reading.

A fantastic short story, on par with stories like Nanny McPhee and Chronicles of Narnia. Thick with rich metaphors and Biblical parallels. A must-read, if I do say so myself!

It's so enjoyable. It tackles the complexities of being a Black woman at a pwi and the need to conform to be safe. It's got dark academia and modern gothic vibes, romance, murder mystery and slow-burn horror!
