The book does a good job of mentioning the events of that story, and weaving them into this current one. The problem I had with this story was that it focused too much on the sexual aspect of their relationship! Finding the artifact took a grand total of maybe 2 pages, and the conflict surrounding it was resolved entirely too quickly, and a bit implausibly as well. The characters don't know each other well, so their declarations of love were a bit unbelievable. The epilogue was more of the same, though it did give us a bit more insight into things. I'll likely continue with the series, since they are so quick to read, but I'm not sure how well I will enjoy them.

Natalie wasn't that great of a heroine, constantly complaining about the age difference between her and Ewan. I'm sensing that's a theme in Cougar books. I also didn't like how she kept her past and her illnesses hidden from so many people! She felt like a very underdeveloped heroine!
Sadly, Ewan wasn't much better. He wouldn't talk about the fact that he couldn't remember his mother much. We also really didn't get a good feel for him at all as a character, because we don't delve that far into his background.
While I normally enjoy the author, this one was a miss for me.

The threeThe Wild Irish series never fails to disappoint on steamy sex scenes with a good plot, but I felt that this one could have been a bit better.
The threesome was good, felt logical and realistic, but I couldn't get past the insistence that it couldn't work in the real world, that the characters were living in a fantasy for a weekend. The end of the book proved that the "real world" to these characters, would support them in a menagé relationship. This made the conflict feel manufactured and flimsy.
The characters felt superficial at best. We don't get to see much of their background, we're told it, and even then, not that much of it. It made the characters lack depth for me.
All things considered, this is a decent and quick read, but very superficial as well.

As with other books in this series, this book builds off the previous novel in the series, but can also stand own its own enough that a reader won't be lost if they start with this story. That being said, the twist at the end will be more meaningful if you've at least read book 1 of the series.
I liked the small bits of humor sprinkled throughout this story. Sherry seemed a little clueless, and it wasn't helped by Kyle's lack of communication. The suspense angle was glaringly evident, even in the first chapters, so it really wasn't that suspenseful. What keeps me coming back to this series, despite my 3 star ratings of it, is the family. You can tell family is very important to the author and the story line, and checking in with the old characters increases the book's appeal for me. I'm eager to see where the twist takes us!...more

I didn't like the abrupt ending, and the romance was rather lacking, but I thought that the couple had potential. Darcy's grandmother was extremely amusing, and I loved how the entire complex was rooting for her and Mitch to get together. I've been pleasantly surprised by this entire series, so this book was no exception to that standard either! It made me very interested in reading more of this author's small town romances!
I really enjoyed the second chances trope in this story, and it is rare that I do enjoy those types of stories. Jessica and Mark reminded me of the story of my romance with my current husband, which was a tribute to the storytelling that the author did. Mark even reminded me of my husband, with his failure to communicate, even though that was a mark against him as a character!
I liked the side storyline of Jessica's illness. It imparted some interesting information about the disease, without going into excessive detail. It made me wonder if the author had experienced anything similar, which made the character easier to relate to.
I liked seeing how the previous couples in the series were doing, as it gave me a glimpse into their lives after the Happily Ever Afters. This is definitely a book where reading the previous books in the series enhances the book, even if it isn't absolutely necessary to do so.
All things considered, this was a great read, and I see a lot of potential for continuing the series with other heroines from Jessica's circle of friends. I would definitely recommend reading this book!...more

This did tie in to the larger Montgomery/Taggert Family Saga series, but it did so in such a way that the reader didn't feel lost. It was a good little Christmas story, but there was a lot of gratuitous sex in it, that really wasn't necessary. It really was a bit of fluff that you didn't really have to think about, but ultimately wasn't memorable....more

This book builds off the previous novel in the series, but can also stand own its own enough that a reader won't be lost if they start with this story.
It is very much an opposites attract story, and I really feel that Cyan was just a hair out of touch with normal society. I also felt that Jareth kept turning a blind eye to what his boss was doing, just because he was worried about keeping his job. Their romance felt just a hair off because of these issues. However, the details about the wolves was interesting!
I like how these stories seem to build off the previous ones, so I'll continue on with the series for now. ...more

In my review of the first book in this series, I didn't think it would improve any, and I am sad to say that I was correct in that assessment. I was frankly bored with the story, despite the fact that it set itself up to be similar to the old Sunfire romances I used to read as a young girl.
The situation with Aaron felt so contrived! I kept wondering why he held on to his relationship with Marianna, when he was starting to show interest in someone else in Indiana. It seemed like he was just there to cast doubt and get in the way of a relationship between Marianna and Ben.
I also hated Marianna's wishy washy nature in this book, so much more than I had in the previous one! It was like she couldn't think for herself, despite the strides she had made in growing closer to the Lord. It was such a turnaround from the previous novel!
I did like that the series felt more like a saga, in that we follow the same characters for three books, but I just think that this series and author are not for me, and will be avoiding them in the future....more

I've really struggled with this author in the past, so when I was approached to read this book, I agreed to do so with a fair amount of trepidation. Then, in the midst of a disaster with my home, I promptly forgot about reading it, until I wake up to an e-mail with information regarding my promised blog post of it, scheduled for today! I sat down with it quickly, and wound up very pleasantly surprised by it!
First of all, I couldn't put it down, and it wasn't just because I was on a shortened timetable! The book actually engaged me completely, to the point where I just HAD to know what was happening with Isobel and Vadim! I was totally consumed with their romance, and loved the banter between the two of them. Some of Vadim's actions made him kind of a douche bag in my opinion, but I could understand his reasons for his actions. Isobel was also a good bit reckless, so she wasn't without fault either. My point is, I could actually connect with these characters, and care about what happens to them, something I've struggled with in some of the author's other works.
Secondly, while this is the second book in the series, I didn't feel lost jumping in at this point in the overall story arc. While my normal tendency is to read the books in order, I did not have a chance to do so prior to reading this story, and I have to commend the author or making things easy to follow.
This was a great read, and I can't wait to go back and read the first book in the series! ...more

I was actually somewhat surprised by my enjoyment of this story, as I didn't think I would enjoy it from reading the blurb. I really liked seeing Leanna's heart start to thaw toward the Greek miners and the mining town in general. I also enjoyed seeing Alex's family in action as well. However, what I liked most about Leanna also wound up being what I hated most about the entire book, though hate is a strong word. The town's prejudice was something I railed against the injustice of while reading the book, and it ultimately made the story drag, because of Leanna's constant waffling and whining about it all. Don't get me wrong, I can see the relevance of it, even in today's times, I just think that it could have been handled differently to make the book still accurate and relevant, but much more interesting to this reader.
While I am not sure I'd read the author again, I do think that this is a book worth reading at least once!...more

Ever since I read the entire Eve Dallas series, I can't help but compare the Fatal series to that one and it never measures up for me. Sam's antics smack of desperation, and moreover, they aren't realistic at all! It really feels as if she doesn't give a fig about supporting Nick politically. The story was a bit convoluted and I felt as if it was easy to see the mastermind from a mile off. Having read some of the author's other works, I was somewhat eager to read this story, even though I am not a huge fan of western themed stories. I really liked the second chances romance between Emma and Nate. I also liked the very realistic look at modern ranching life and its struggles. I really loved how Emma refused to let her illness constrain her or define her any longer. I loved her bravery in the face of an uncertain future.
However, the story felt dry in spots. It was really difficult for me to keep interested in the story, because it didn't really come alive for me. I was wishing for more vibrancy to the settings and characters and this installment just didn't have it. I'm interested in continuing the series, though, so hopefully it will improve....more
