Del didn't let Colin get away with anything, nor did she allow his dad Mike to get away with anything either! I loved watching their love for one another bloom and seeing how Mike handled it considering the loss of his wife in childbirth. Del's family was amazingly funny as well and though this story had it's ups and downs, it did show that these were flawed characters trying to do the best they could. Overall, I would recommend the series, but some were better than others....more

To me, it didn't make sense to put the two cerebral types together. I couldn't see what made them spark! Vanessa has had an aloof thing going for the entire series and falling in love didn't soften it like it should have! Cameron was also a bit of a drama prince, and wound up really hurting Vanessa in the process! Not to mention, they were pretty stupid in thinking that only the Pill would protect them from pregnancy! It was just asking for trouble when I read that! All in all, this was the weak link in the series for me....more

It picks up almost immediately where the previous book left off and details Brody's romance with Abby.
I liked how flawed Brody was and learning about his past, though he used it to act like a complete idiot at times. Abby often wouldn't take his crap either, even though she would often hide what she did for a living from everyone that didn't know her well. I loved how the situation finally came to a head with her family!
This book gives us the pairings for the final two books of the series, and I'm quite surprised at Mike's intended! It will be interesting to see where that goes!...more

The story didn't have much action and wasn't very interesting to me.
I think that the most annoying thing was that these felt like stock characters that could be in any Inspirational Romance novel. Bruce and Grace are the same old talented, romantic, God-fearing people that I feel I've read about before. It felt like their cute little exchanges were very close to others the author has written. I couldn't get interested in the military conflicts of the story because they were very obviously dated and mostly made up.
I did appreciate the letting love grow over months element. The love letters written while on deployment added a new facet to the story, but they also got repetitive. There were too many letters between the main characters because they were hardly together in person. On top of that, the "love letters" had no depth, feeling flat and impersonal. I also couldn't believe that Grace kept putting her Navy Jet Pilot Career ahead of love.
This just wasn't a good read for me, though I had really high hopes for it....more

That being said, the bang it went out on was not what I was expecting, nor was it very original to me.
My first thought when everything started going down was that this was exactly like the Die Hard franchise of movies. By the time I got to the end of the story, the author let the readers know that this was intentional. She made it a point to say that some were calling the events at the hotel "Die Hard in Denver". While I enjoy the Die Hard movies, I didn't enjoy how close this book came to them.
I did enjoy seeing all the I-Team couples in the book, and would have enjoyed more time with some of them. It seemed that the book focused more on Marc/Sophie, Gabe/Kat, and Nick/Holly, than giving each couple equal attempts at heroism. Granted, Marc and Gabe are some of the more popular heroes, and the Nick/Holly angle could have been to promote Seduction Game more, but some of the couples got shuffled off into "cameo standing on the sidelines" status. Will and Lissy from Heaven Can't Wait weren't even mentioned at all!
I did like how the author handled dealing with Mr. Baird! The guy was a complete jerk and coward, and having Tom Trent (view spoiler)[basically kick the guy off the paper after revealing that Marc was the one sabotaging things and that Sophie was his wife (hide spoiler)] was totally epic!
I think this leaves the I-Team in a good place if the author chooses not to write any more books in the series. I would like to see more books in the series, but with the way this ended, I'm ok if there isn't any more as well....more

It also builds on that book in such a way that the reader need not have read it in order to understand this installment.
Characters were fleshed out a bit more in this installment, but not overbearingly. The focus is clearly the mystery, and Ms. Robb/Roberts did a masterful job with a red herring that kept me from guessing the killer's identity until the end of the story.
The pacing was perfect, moving at a good clip, and not getting bogged down too terribly in the details to keep things interesting. I'm remembering snippets of future books in the series now, and can't wait to see how those snippets pan out. Looking forward to the next book in the series!...more

Ben was a complete jerk for the entire book, constantly jerking Lizzy around by her emotions. I couldn't see what she saw in him! Ben's sister Martha wasn't any better! She couldn't believe that Lizzy wouldn't be after money and basically treated Lizzy like dirt.
That being said, Lizzy really didn't stand up for herself, as she kept constantly going back to Ben, after continuously threatening to leave. She felt like a doormat to me!
Seeing the band on tour and what was happening with the other couples was what kept the book from a one star rating. I loved how Anne and Mal kept taking Lizzy's back when Ben screwed up! This book also seems to set up a spin off series, introducing the members of Dive Forward, only to have the band split up. All things considered, it was an ok book and lack luster finishing installment to the series, but I'm looking forward to the spin off series more....more

I loved Emory in this installment, he really got to shine more than what we saw of him in Undone Rebel! I also loved that Alton was a part of Sasha's past, and that Emory needed his help.
Sasha was a unique character, and I enjoyed reading about her. I liked how her job and her personal life were so at odds with each other, it made her a more realistic character for me.
This truly was the best book in the series for me, and I'll be on the lookout for other series by the author to read!...more

The romance felt awkward, and reminded me of Marie Force's Fatal Affair, though that one wasn't as aloof as this one was. In fact, I now can see the similarities between both of those books! I liked the character of Roarke much better than Senator Nick, even with how stiff and reserved both Roarke and Eve were!
The mystery was somewhat easy to figure out, but there were some twists and turns I wasn't expecting. I got caught up in it without really realizing it and finished it in about a day. This was worth seeing where the next book goes!...more

It took me 3 days to finish it, a really long time for me. I found it easy to put down the book, so much that I finished 3 other books while in the middle of this one. I just couldn't find much that was good in this book.
I did enjoy the fact that Sam and Sophie cherished the memories of each other, but the continuous flashback got a bit old. I didn't get why Sam didn't try to contact Sophie again, if she had meant that much to him, even though it made it easier for him to turn into Jack.
I had a hard time buying that Jack's boss would send him back to work with Sophie, his first love, all for the sake of closure. I also had a hard time buying into all the reckless actions that Jack did, barely checking in with his boss and even going against his orders. Why was there no reprimands?!
The author's not a bad writer, her sentences were coherent and put together well, but the characters came off as very flat for me. by the end of the book, I felt like I still knew almost nothing about Jack or Sophie other than basic background, and I was incredulous that Sophie only appears to have two friends and no life other than work and home. Jack, similarly seemed to have no other interests besides his love for Sophie and his work. All in all, didn't make it easy for me to connect to them as characters.
The ending was very implausible. It doesn't seem like it would be that easy for someone would be able to get out of that life as easily as Jack did.
After all that, I don't think I'll be continuing on with the series....more

The story ended very abruptly and Addie and Lane tried to interfere with Lulu's relationship too much for my taste. Alton seemed at odds with who he was in the first book, making him seem like a weaker character. For me, it didn't add anything to the Scanguards universe, as this was a barely remembered character from the sixth book. It moved very quickly, almost as if it was just a vehicle for the sex scenes. Jimmy is a very good tortured hero, but at the same time he doesn't wallow in it. The only thing I didn't care for about him was that he took the closed off facet of himself way too far and seemed too unwilling to change until faced with the loss of Lena.
I loved Lena! She didn't take any guff from Jimmy, and could somewhat hold her own with the rest of the band. I even admired how she handled what her sister did to her, I found it quite classy, even though it was a bit petty as well.
In a way, I'm sorry that this series is only four books long, as I really love the writing and emotions that play out within them. I can't wait for the next book!...more

Both Abby and Kane are tortured Main Characters, but Abby being much more so than Kane. Both characters use the horrors in their pasts as an excuse to not form relationships with other people. But while Kane learns to move past it in this book, Abby really doesn't until the end of the book.
Abby also does quite a bit of stupid stuff for a trained CIA operative gone private sector. She is so completely obsessed with rescuing the girls that she attempts to put her life in danger to assist with the extraction. On top of that, she offers herself to her torturer/tormentor, trusting that he won't warn his boss that a rescue is coming!
For me, most of the characters were one dimensional, totally focused on the next job and their pasts full of hurts.
