Piranesi is difficult to digest and much of the plot is meandering, so I felt at many points removed from the story. Anything that feels incredibly long and makes me reluctant to read it loses points in my book. While I didn't get a lot of enjoyment from this, I can see the artistry that went into crafting Piranesi. You could probably spend a lot of time peeling back the layers of meaning and catching little details. Not for everyone, but certainly intriguing and memorable....more
Very little plot, but Lucy is endearing because her musings are just so human and intimate. It was interesting to see life through the lens of a narraVery little plot, but Lucy is endearing because her musings are just so human and intimate. It was interesting to see life through the lens of a narrator who has already settled down and lived much of hers. Lucy's thoughts reflect the loneliness and imperfection of the human condition, but perhaps didn't impact me as much as I'd hoped. I want to revisit this when I'm older and see how my perspective changes then. 3.5 stars....more
