I think as a YA book this did exactly what it needed to do! such a fast read and keeps you hooked. While being a slow reathanks netgalley for the arc!
I think as a YA book this did exactly what it needed to do! such a fast read and keeps you hooked. While being a slow reader I wanted to finish this as fast I could because I wanted to know what happens next and I did lol!
I think this felt book felt very present and real, and author made a great job of portraying modern day teenage lives. Also lulu leggings? love to see it! Also I wouldn't be true to myself if I say I didn't love this scene: he's wearing a sweater vest and a pearl necklace. "who are you supposed to be?" asks Naomi. "Harry Styles" stays Scott. and I ate that up!!!!!!!
I loved the dual timeline and it was such a good distraction from the plot twist because Hannah's story makes you think of a certain ending where as stuff clicks and boom!
I feel like some parts in the beginning felt a little bit too cliche, like when Dawn was talking about Ella, Lucy and Naomi in the beginning but I think with the whole mean girl trope, it can be very easy to end up writting that sort of a scenario like that. Again circling back to this being for young adults, maybe it is normal to think like that as a teenager (it's been a hot minute!)
I am still not sure how I feel about the ending, maybe it did make sense what happened to Dawn, it could have been unrealistic if everyone got away with their actions. Also I wished theres a bit more on Gracie's character, maybe also a bit more on Isaac and his reaction afterwards!
This really reminded me of pretty little liars and the lying game and I can totally see this being adapted into a movie some day!...more
updated rating: 5 ⭐️s cause why the hell not!! I have seen so many people call happy place boring and too real and maybe i am starting to think I am thupdated rating: 5 ⭐️s cause why the hell not!! I have seen so many people call happy place boring and too real and maybe i am starting to think I am the boring one, but Emily Henry just gets me and I think she writes these books just to personally attack me lmao
Not to brag but I am still amazed how I got approved for the arc while I've seen so many content creators have been rejected. Just thanks to netgalley!!!!
short review:
This is my first time reading any work by Emily Henry! AND I AM IN LOVE! normally I don’t read a lot of romance because there's not alot of plot based books but boy this book just made me feel so many million things from start to end. I wanted to keep dragging the read because I didn’t want it to end! My heart was full reading the whole friendship dynamic between the group and how everything was changing as they became older! As someone who’s more on the lonely side while being in college my eyes were sweaty most of the time because it was so well written! I’d probably sell my left kidney for my own Sab and Cleo! And most of all I tend to dislike most female main characters but Harriet just hit the spot. She was not the most perfect but her flaws made me sad and understanding rather than finding her annoying!(which I do almost all the time) the way Emily Henry writes the relationship dynamics of a couple who starts dating so young and go through all life changes is so so sooooo realistic because most of the moments between Harry and Wyn, I’ve been there and done that, word by word (like WHAT DID I DO TO YOU HENRY???)! overall I absolutely loved this and I can’t wait to get my hands on the rest of her books and also staff pick this as soon as it gets released in my Indigo store!! 4.5 stars all the way!!
Once again thank you netgalley for providing me this amazing ARC!...more
