It’s refreshing to see a sci-fi plot involving an apocalyptic event and A.I, where the A.I is not evil and intent on eradicating human lives.
In this novel, the author turns the usual storyline on its head and the A.I looks after mankind even if mankind is bent on their own destruction.
It is a very interesting take on humanity’s future: we reach the pinnacle of technological advancement and we invariably cast aside the true purpose of our lives in the process. ...more

HoweverI am always respectful of autobiographies because it takes a lot of courage for one to share what happened in their life with the whole world. However, this story is quite deep as it brings to light the topic of elder abuse, something that happens behind closed door and society does not acknowledge. We go on a journey with the main character and witness how a family can crumble from within when one is driven by greed.
Despite the serious theme, I found this book very entertaining, I could not put it down as I needed to know what happened next and if justice was served....more

Mary’s manifesto for change is not against men but instead is pro-equality. In this day an age, women have stepped up to take their place next to men, yet there is still much to do. Small minds and attitudes from both sexes need to change. The workplace system simply cannot remain as it was decades ago when it was mostly made up of men. It is not women who should adapt to the status quo, but the status quo and the culture around it that need to change and evolve to enable men and women to bring their best self to work. Mary Portas doesn’t just make some noise to share her opinion in this book but shares some really good examples of what is working and what can be done. ...more

It’s a story we can all learn from in this day and age as more and more people turn towards online dating to find love. I especially applaud the author’s thoughtfulness because, at the end of the book, she dedicates a whole chapter on saftety tips to stop what happened to her from happening to someone else.
The author’s style makes this book a great read, there is suspense and humour so it’s not a ‘heavy’ book....more

The second book in this series does not disappoint. I have to say I much prefer this 2nd book to the first one, maybe it’s because of the change in perspective or possibly because book 1 has set the scene really well for the sequel.
The storyline picks up where the first book left off, so it’s a good idea to read the first book first as this book refers what happened previously a lot. I found Annie a bit shallow in the first book so it was very interesting reading from her point of view. The author approaches faith from a very different angle and makes it entertaining. I am not going to give any spoilers but will say that I look forward to the next instalment.

Jonathon Fry is nearing his retirement, he has had good and bad times in his life like most of us. The plot really starts when he starts writing a blog about his youth and ends up writing about a beautiful woman he had never met but somehow felt like he had.
I was quite amused at the effect this exotic beauty had on the marital life of Jonathan before his wife finds out about it. ...more

It is set in a very dark world full of dark magic and sorcery. I found this book, strangely appealing as I wanted to know how it ends. The main character –Noir is unlike most protagonists, he, in fact, has a very dark personality as his name suggests and is driven by revenge. His internal struggle is quite interesting and gives deeper insight into his motivation. This dystopian novel has a lot going for it, the characters, the poetic prose and definitely, the setting was unique. ...more

The author sets the scene very well for the first book in a series. From the planets Cendis, Avala and Ragnis-Crystal to its inhabitants and their cultures there is a wealth of background information. The characters especially the sixteen gifted children all have their unique quirks and abilities which make the story even more interesting. This book is X-men meet Divergent and is full of unexpected twists and turns.
Cendis and Avala are 2 planets with a fragile truce and a history of conflict. Both people pin their hopes of survival on the union of their respective Prince and Princess. However, this is not easy because the two protagonists have strong beliefs and personalities. They don’t trust each other and there are a whole lot of lies and politics at play. ...more

Isaac is a very likeable character and his journey to find the treasure while avoiding Captain Crescent is quite exciting. It’s a story that will appeal to the younger and older readers- who doesn’t to escape into a swashbuckling world full of adventure and curious creatures every now and then?
The details of the setting are very well done, with ships sailing the sky instead of seas, floating ‘skyland’ and a collection of strange yet entertaining characters. By the ending of the book, it is quite obvious that Isaac’s adventures continue because the treasure he found is not ‘the’ treasure. ...more

The author does not disappoint in the second book in the series. I find it really easy to let my imagination run as the author’s style of writing certainly brings the characters and their magical world to life.
There are a lot of similarities to our world like the fetish is like a good luck totem, the cowboys and the shellophone, but the rules of Arcanaland are quite different.
The lost teens, meet some more magical and unusual creatures, in their quest for the Lenormand objects, some are trustworthy others not. There are perils and evil doers waiting to lure them on the wrong path and even hurt them.
The end was quite sobering as in this magical world, I somehow did not expect that death will claim one of the gang. ...more

Holly succumbs to peer pressure as she is keen to fit in and out be an outsider and act on a dare. She is definitely the character I’m most drawn to. This teenage dare, leads Holly and her friends into a new magical world where they meet up with some boys who had a similar fate to them a few years earlier. This magical kingdom is akin to C.S Lewis’ Chronicles of Narnia, but more modern with a new age twist of tarot cards.
The tarots are quite important as they pretty much show the girls and boys how to get back home. I’m sure many teens can relate to this novel fascination with tarots and chakras.
The author has created a cohesive world in Arcanaland, especially handy for the first book in the series. She gives ample descriptions and the inhabitants are well developed. I enjoyed discovering this mysterious and magical world. As you would expect, the characters are quirky and out of this world, and there are some weird and wonderful discoveries, like the food and mode of transportation, to name a few.
A good book to keep inquisitive minds engaged and fire up the imagination....more

My doubts were laid to rest as most of the information proved to be very relevant and valuable.
If you look, you will find hundreds of books on social media marketing, and a huge portion is dedicated to author marketing. Of all the books, I've picked up, none have been very helpful, they stick to mainly rehashing the generic, basic set up information.
This is why I found this book particularly helpful, as it imparts a complete strategy on how to use Twitter to promote your books.
I found the tools described to be useful, although some details are a bit outdated. If you know the basics of Twitter and are looking for a good strategy to test, then I recommend this book. ...more

It's a light easy read and I very much enjoyed it. I like how the pov alternates between Yasir and Nayela.
The love story between the two main characters seems doomed at first due to the complex family relationship. It is so obvious the affection they have for each other but Nayela's motherly priority is to her daughter. A relationship which is loving and caring and stands in sharp contrast with the manipulative relationship Zareen has with her children.
The author is very skilled at bringing the culture into the story, it is not just the background of the story but in a way, it is the reason for the story. The culture explains a lot of the family dynamics.

Loved getting tucked in this historical fiction book with a brew. Cas’ story is certainly an unusual one, especially when it gets entwined with Joe’s. It is the story of a brave young girl who faces grief over the death of her grandpa and carries on to find the culprit, despite threats to her life and safety.
I find myself both laughing at and rooting for Joe, especially when he does not know what to make of his attraction to young Cas! It's very entertaining! Joe, is such a 'manly' character in my head he was 'Hugh Jackman' from the movie 'Australia', if you love that movie, then chances are you will love this book too!
But this is not just a soppy love story, in fact, it is not soppy at all! There is adventure, a mystery to solve and a few surprises in the old west!
The scene is nicely set, with descriptions of what life is this time period is like. This setting explains a lot about Cas’ character and why she does certain things- I won’t provide any spoilers! But you’ll see what I mean right from the beginning!...more
