The story is set in a universe similar to our own but inverted. Set in Oxford, the names of the buildings are different and there is an essence of magic which dusts the whole story. Perhaps this is because a part of the human self is composed of a daemon! I recommend this book to those who are excited for winter because there is a lot of gorgeous imagery, especially surrounding the snow and, as you would expect, the northern lights. ...more
