I had problemI had high hopes for this story, since I know this author can write amazing books. But this time it felt like the whole book was rushed. I had problems with the timing, like when Cadence finds out that her whole life she has been lied to. She went from crying to immediately sassy and acted like that moment never happened. It was trippy to say the least and it made me feel like I missed something. I did like Damien a lot tho. He was dare I say perfect. Also the plot wasn't so bad, full of action and romance and we also get a scorching scene. So all in all, I liked it but was expecting more. I hope the next book will be a bit more put together. ...more

Usually we get smut and OTT heroes with no drama what-so-ever. But in this story I think it was great to see some plot twists that at times made me feel mad and at the same time sad for all the main characters. It had more depth and made the story more interesting - not that I mind the usual fun and hot stories from this author. I was just in the right head space to read this story and that made me like it more than the other AR books. I wonder, if AR is thinking of making more stories with such plot twists because I think I'd really enjoy them. Afterall, who doesn't from time to time want to read a controversial storyline. ...more

You kinda know the base of the story but there's always an exciting element to a newly told story. And since this book is a bit longer than most re-tellings I thought I was in for a great read. And I did like the story until the 60% mark. Then things just became a bit anticlimatic for me. In the beginning the author included great details and I could connect to the characters. But nearing the end of the story I lost that connection, since it felt like the author rushed the ending and the emotional state of the characters. Especially about Spencer near the end of the story. I just missed more details. More thoughts on why and how Ruby started to see the beast in a new light, since she wasn't exactly fan of his and his actions.I think that would've made it more believable to me. Also, I just couldn't really warm up to Ruby's character. At times she really was behaving like a brat and it sure made me dislike her even more. Thankfully the same can't be said about Lincoln. I really liked his character. He was scarred by life and my heart just broke for him. I'm glad he got his happiness, he really deserved it. There was not enough explanation and logical thread to the story and the characters actions. Not to mention the epilogue. It felt like a was reading a biography without a hint of emotion. They were just stated facts, one after another and it left me with an unpleasant feeling. Not what you'd expect from a romantic book ending. I just wished for a smoother ride, that's all. That being said, the story's not bad but it's also not one that wowed me... ...more

The mayor reason why I didn't like this book is the writing style. There were so many sentences that were repeated and for that reason I just didn't care for the story anymore. And I like it. So, when I saw that Alexa Riley wrote a PNR book I just had to read it. The story still has the typical Alexa Riley M.O. You still get lots of smut, OTT heroes and sweet heroines. But what's new in this story is the whole PNR aspect. There were some original traits to vapire lifestyle . What I wished the authors did differently was the ending. There was no epilogue, not really. And also, where's the clousure, what happens to the hunter? So that was a bummer. But oh well... I still liked the story. It's sweet, quick and enjoyable. I cannot wait for the next PNR books from this author.
I can now proudly say that I've finally finished this story. Not because it was bad, but because I don't have time to read books anymore, at 3,5 STARS
I can now proudly say that I've finally finished this story. Not because it was bad, but because I don't have time to read books anymore, at least not the way I used to. I know, these are sad days. :(
As for what I think of the book, I think it's super sweet and it touches a more sensitive topic and that is psychical abuse. I felt bad for both main characters, since they both had to go through something no one should ever go through and that is to not have a free will to speak out and to be accepted as you are. Which is such a shame and it's still not talked about enough today. We all know what's on the news these days, so being repressed and ingnored can have a devastating impact on ones personality.
Anyway, back to the story. It's as said super sweet, almost at times too much for me. But overall it's a nice, cozy read that gives you those happy readers feelings. It's a wonderful journey that one should read, for sure. ...more

These days I'm super busy with work, so reading hasn't been on the menu for almost half a year. Yes, it sounds crazy but life sucks... so when I finally got time for the holidays to read, I really wanted it to be a good, solid story that I wouldn't regret reading it. And I had my eyes on this one ever since I've heard about it (maybe over half a year ago). I'm glad to say that it didn't let me down. The plot was really refreshing and unique. Also the pairing of the two MCs is something I haven't read in a while. One character a human, who's been abducted to be enslawed and the other an alien, that's been in search for his missing family member. In appearance they couldn't be more different. But on the inside, all that matters is a good heart. And somehow these two make it work. I really enjoyed their conversations and how they slowly figured thing out. The only thing that I was disappointed in was the ending. I wished for more, since it felt a bit like the ending was rushed. I'm sure the author will continue to explore the new world in her next books, so I'm not overly mad about that. All in all, a great story. ...more

So sadly this book is a disappointment for me. At first it looked quite good and the plot was interesting but all the smirking and being overly badass became at some point plain boring and the story couldn't keep my attention. I like strong heroines and equally strong heroes but with this story I didn't feel that. It was more like the heroine was the alpha and pushed the hero into being her beta. And that's not how a good relationship looks like. It's all about respect and trust and I didn't get that feel from their relationship. I get that both have their past and the heroines especially wasn't a pretty one but for me it was too much, her constantly trying to prove dominance, even though she was indeed stronger than him. Because of that I couldn't finish reading the story. For those who don't have that problem, this book is not bad. So, if you like the blurb, read the story. ...more

Sooo...I love my OTT alpha heroes that can also be at times more dark and more the anti hero but what I just read does trully push my limits. If you think this is a sweet story where little boy meets little girl and they bloom together into their adult lives, you would be so mistaken. It's true they are each others firsts but holly smoks! The hero isn't really a hero, not even your usual anti hero. Nope, he's a straight up psychopath and that's saying something. He enjoys in his killings and we are made aware in detail how and what he does to his victims. But as love goes, you can't choose whom you fall in love with. I'm so glad we get both main characters POV, since beeing in his head answered so many questions and you could better understand his actions and feelings. And I cannot believe what I'm about to say, but I actually grew to like him. I know, weird, but honestly when you see the way he loves her and and how much he loves her, it's just (dark) magic. He would do anything and I mean really anything to keep her and that's what he in the end also does. All I'm saying is that there will be blood, gore and more blood. And I strangely loved it. I am a fan of Tillie Cole and also this series. Book two and three are one of my favourites, so when I had the chance to read this story I obviously took it. But now it pains me to say that I didn't enjoy it as much as I did the previous two books. The plot is a bit repetative and the tourtured hero theme did make me skimm a few pages. There was a lot of violence, drug abuse and rape in this book but that was to be expected, since that is this whole series theme. I did enjoy the slow burn and development of the main characters relationship and the ending was really sweet. I don't know if this is the authors last book for this series but I would love to see Maya's story and how she found love. In the epilogue we do get a hint of what happened to her but I want the full circle of her story. I was also happy about the Master's demise and the end of his rule. It was about time someone put him out of business. We get both main charaters POV but also Luka's and that was really great. So all in all, it's a great story but I wouldn't recommend you read the full series in a row, since the plot is a bit repetative and might take away some joy of reading these stories. ...more

I liked the concept of this new world and the colonization but I wished for more details about the world and the aliens, like their mother planet and more of their thinking, about their view on this new situation. Also, why this group of humans left Earth in the first place, more details about that would've been great.
We get a very small, barely there POV from one of the more developed male chacters but that's about all. I just wished to know what they felt and how they dealed with what was happening to them. To say I was shocked about how they were treated by their own mother and in general by their species would be an understatement. I'm glad they got to know more love and kindness.
Now about the female main character, she was alright but at times I just wanted to punch her. The story is basicaly told only from her POV and that really bothered me. Too much inner dialog. Her communication with the males is so scarce and it leads to so many misunderstandings, it's ridiculous. When she had a problem, she didn't even ask the males of their opinion or to find out how they really felt about things, she just pushed them aside. Sure, keeping up the peace and diplomacy is important but to reason everything in the name of diplomacy is so immature and unreasonable. I had such high hopes for this story, since it has so many good reviews but I admit it wasn't the best book out there that I've read about aliens or simply genre like this. Would I recommend it? Yes. But I will probably never re-read it. Just not my thing. ...more

There's a reason why I love Nalini Singh and it's her effortless writing and incredible imagination that makes every story work for me. I love the characters, although this time Zaira did get slightly repeatable about how she's mad and not good enough for Aden. But in the end, what an alpha want, the alpha gets. The plot is of course super detailed and we do get a new huge enemy that we also have in the next books, also new developments that I liked, such as a new mindset for the kids and new allegiances. I loved that we got the met new packs and I cannot wait to read their story. But the only thing that really bothered me is the lenght of this book.

I mean, I love Nalini but almost 500 pages is a bit too much for me. Near the end, I was struggling to finish the story. Not because the book was lacking but simply because I've been reading it for almost a whole week and I really wanted to start Silver Silence. In the end though, I enjoyed every page. Great plot, characters and twists.

The story captures a completelly different but at the same time familiar world, with strange colours and creatures that you cannot help but fall in love with. I loved how strange in appearance the 'dog' was and at the end my heart broke for him. Also what's great about this story is the strong and feisty female lead. She's thrown into a new world full of demon looking aliens, that at first impression want to harm her, or at least that's what she thinks but to be fair with that happened I would too. She has to quickly learn and adapt to all that but thankfully with the help of her new alien friends she manages just fine. I won't go into the plot because you simply have to read the whole story to completely appreciate it. All I can say is that the story is funny and sexy but also has some really emotional scenes that are worth the read. ...more

I remember getting this book a long while ago and was really looking forward to it. The blurb sounded exciting and intriguing, so I thought why not give it a go. So now I finally read it and I hate to say it but I'm actually quite disappointed by the weak plot.

The way this story started left me totally confused since the author doesn't tell us exactly what's happening. You get a teenager in the present time that moved to a new town because of her father's job. And then you have a boy that still lives on Earth but not really, since the Earth that we know is dying and the people have mutated to some sort of lizard like creatures. Which btw. I loved, a great spin on the main character. But what bothered me is that we get this information almost near the end of the story. So all this time I was practically wondering what Zat is and what the actual plot is. And, yes, the plot is super weak. It's starts of fine but then you read and read, nothing really happens. She lives her normal life, makes friends, gets a job and only meets up with Zet in her dreams and that only for a short period of time. So we actually almost don't get to see him in the real world. (view spoiler)[until the last page (hide spoiler)] And then all of a sudden, the story comes to it's end. And you're left even more confused, like that was it? Huh? I expected more.

We got to know more about the Dark net and how it looks like, also new questions and some answered ones. The journey is a great one, full of romance and also a vision of the future that the Psy might have. We also got to met new characters that are surprisingly lovely and add so much to this story. I loved Jane and how she kept pushing Vasic. She never gave up on him, even when he did. There were moments where I really though that was it for him but thankfully the ending wasn't so dark. I feel bad for him and what he lost but in the end he gained so much more, hope and love being one of them. I enjoyed reading about Aden and getting a better feel for his character. I wonder how his story will look like but I'm sure it will be a great read.

Anyway, I liked the lightness of the storyI remember reading this book very quickly and I somehow forgot to write a review for it, yeah, that's me...
Anyway, I liked the lightness of the story but what did bother me was that the hero thought how much he loved her and that he would show her but his actions were sadly not exactly the same as his thoughts. It took him way too long to finally find his courage and admit his feelings for her. I think it was she that pushed him to even make that step. So, yeah, did not like that. I like my heroes to be blunt and simply go for what they want and not wait for a miracle. Just saying...
I liked the heroine, she was a fun character and despite her being a bit shy, she has a lot of courage. I get why it took them so long to get together, since they grew up and all that, but I wished they wouldn't have waited so long. But once they did admit their feelings, wow. The sheets were on fire! Definitely loved that. ;)
This is a quick, fun read that most will enjoy. I really like this series, it's not heavy or full of drama, so that's always a bonus for me. Will continue to read it, that's for sure. ...more

This story is just so dang sweet and cute but also sexy. I have a huge secret to tell, so please don't kill me but when I first started reading Jenika's books I couldn't bring myself to like them. I know, what was I thinking. Here is the deal tho, the fact that I really enjoy and look forward to them now means that she won me over. Her stories just get better and better. You might wonder, if I liked it so much, why didn't I gave a higher rating, right? Well, I've become quite picky with my reads. I want a rich plot and since this book is super short and sweet there wasn't much story building, as in action, drama, twists and all the good stuff that leaves your mind in high performance. I would say that this is a perfect book for times, when you just need something more simple, fun and enjoyable. Simple is sometimes the best way to go! What I also really liked about these two characters is that they knew from the start what they wanted, they didn't have any doubts or were wondering what ifs. Also the epilogue is a nice touch to the whole story. Just leaves you with a warm feeling. All in all, if you have a small time break, then go grab this book!...more

Nothing makes a cold winters day better than an AR book! I trully enjoyed reading this short smut story. It's your typical AR book but this time with a more taboo theme that makes the read even hotter. On one hand you have the forbidden fruit and on the other you know that if you disregard that, then that could lead to a whole new world of passion and secrets. Is it all worth it? Well, read the book to find out. For me, it definitely was a read that I enjoyed and had fun reading it. I'm sure for most AR fans the experience will be similar, if not better. That's about all I'm going to say about this sweet and sexy story. Wouldn't want to spoil the fun. ;)...more
