Chris Dietzel has taken a dystopian universe and given it a twist to make it seem all too real. If you are a fan of conspiracy theory, you will love this book. If you love dystopia, you will love this work. If you are a fan of time travel, you will love this book. If you love a well written novel, you will really love this work.
The Theta Prophecy is a second of a developing universe. It is excellent work. Chris Dietzel notes his books are stand alone. Far be it for me to disagree with the author of the work, but I do. Both The Theta Prophecy and The Theta Timeline are intertwined. It is true they are not direct sequels to each other and either may be read first, but they both must be read in relation to each other. I see both as chapters in a much larger epic.
The Theta Prophecy bounces back and forth between a given past and the present of the dystopia of the State. Chris Dietzel weaves a series of famous conspiracy theories to present how the dystopian world came into existence and how trips to the past failed to change the present. There is just enough science to give the background, but it is not hard or gets in the way of this excellent tale. The beauty is that the story provides the States' view of reality and it has some surprising humanity. It is certainly soul crushing and back breaking, but there is a realization things are out of hand with no sight of how to fix the situation. The story shows the frustration of trying to negotiate the world when the rules are so arbitrary and what happens when the proverbial nails sticks out.

This is the premise for The Religion War and it is a study of how to prevent the unthinkable when the egos and desperation blind everyone. Scott Adams looks at what happens when two diametrically opposed forces square off and are willing to kill everyone to rove they are right. This is a deceptively wonderful read. Both easy and fast, The Religion War has laid down a complicated set of questions to ponder later (think Animal Farm). Both sides are "right" and both sides are "wrong" in their understanding and misunderstandings. Yet, the world hangs in the balance. The question becomes: is there a third way? This is a great read. Do not be surprised if you read this many times....more

It is a book for young adults , but holds up incredibly well as an adult read. Nat Hentoff has done a marvelous job of presenting both sides of an argument on book banning in schools. His arguments are exactly the same arguments used today. I could not put it down and you will not either. Well worth the time....more

Imagine if you had all the answers to the future and did not believe it yourself and imagine that when you finally believe it, it is too late for you to do something about it. Imagine the regret you would feel and trying to tell someone that information to still change the future and they do not believe it either.
If the Twilight Zone still existed, this short story would be an episode, it is that good. J.L. Pattison has managed to pull off believable mundane characters in a short story and it is the focus on his characters that makes this an enjoyable read.
The Visitor is great read and it renews my love for the short story. I highly recommend this story. I look forward to more in the future....more
