"your book really sucked"

I love books. I love that we can each read the same one and have completely different ideas about if it was good or bad, if it was believable or not, if we'd recommend it to someone else, etc. Who among us hasn't read a book we thought was terrible?

That's our MC Emma. She's house sitting on the Oregon Coast during winter. She's consuming books faster and better than she's actually consuming food. She's got her kindle and is loading up all those free or $.99 ones and just reading, reading reading. She doesn't typically leave reviews but this one was particularly bad, even for the <$1 she paid for it. Surely, she should warn others so they don't waste their money. Imagine her surprise when the author contacts her and asks her to remove her less-than-flattering review.

I loved this one, just for the sheer terror of an author reading her 1 star review and reaching out. I loved getting to know Emma and her struggles. I liked the neighbor and their cute hangman game and Emma's daily walks around the Oregon Beach. Emma has a dog, Laika, and their communication was some of my favorite parts in the book (view spoiler)

This one is a bit silly at times, the gore and horror of what's happening is mixed with funny points and, truly, just makes the book easier to read. The plot kept me guessing even if I knew my instincts were right, I was completely locked on the page wanting to know how this would all turn out. It's broken in to four parts and that easily gives you breathing points if you need a break! This one was so fun and exactly what I'd hoped for when I grabbed a Taylor Adams story. I can't wait for the next one!
