it was ok

** spoiler alert ** 2.5

I loved the forensics!

Although one the “big reveals” was predictable, there were some fun twists and turns.

I did not love the good professor who made repeated unnecessary observations about his TA’s shapely form under her lab scrubs, the TA he notes would be his daughter’s age. Dude, no.

Or the, again unnecessary, remarks about a student crossing her bare legs under her mini skirt for his pleasure and offering sex for a grade.

Or how hot and bothered he gets about his students under his supervision and control.

Or musing about a celebrity in a movie naked.

Or making jokes about the dearth of something “like virgins at a frat party”.

Why? It added nothing to the story.

Collectively it created a pattern that became unpleasant.

But similarly aged colleagues? They didn’t seem to lust after him. The plot device was available to demonstrate his widower loneliness without all the off topic musings about women his son’s age idolizing him.

Just ewwww, Professor Creepy.

I may give the next book a go and see if the authors learned the lesson of their professor who noted; students were not laughing at his off color jokes or his revelation that it’s irresponsible, hurtful, and potentially damaging to his career to mess with his students.

It seemed like they couldn’t quite decide if he is an awkward, goofy, nausea prone genius with a heart of gold, a traumatized widower, or Oversexed Professor Sexy Pants.

The dad jokes and puns were just fine.

Sexist jokes about the sometimes sexually abusive culture at frat parties, not so much.

Get some therapy, Professor.

And apologize to your son. Save your time asking, AITA, because yes, yes you were.

I hold out hope this is better in book #2.
