it was amazing

RISE was one of the most entertaining, action-packed, heartfelt debuts I've read in a long time, and I absolutely could not put it down.

Bryn was an impeccable narrator with snark for days-she was so earnest, funny, and spunky that I wished I could hop into the book and be her friend. Her struggle to fit in and live up to her mother's legacy and her sisters' perfection was relatable and will resonate with YA readers, and I was rooting for her (and her sisters, and Wyatt, and even James!) the whole way through the book. It was full of twists and turns I didn't see coming, and I never saw the true villain of the story coming. And the setting-Valkyries in a ren faire, what more could a reader want??!

I'd highly recommend this for anyone who loved So Let Them Burn, Lore, and other mythology-inspired books featuring action and family relationships. And as a special shout-out, the book features a bi MC, a trans character, and aromantic representation.
