1 Challenge 1: Lack of clarity

One of the main challenges to creativity and innovation is the lack of clarity about the problem, the goal, and the criteria for success. Without a clear definition of the problem and the desired outcome, it is hard to generate and evaluate ideas effectively. To overcome this challenge, you need to use problem-solving frameworks and tools, such as the problem statement, the 5 whys, the SMART goals, and the SCAMPER technique. One thing I've found to help with the lack of clarity is asking questions. So many fear asking questions because of the fear of looking ignorant in front of peers or seniors. If you don't ask the right questions in order to understand a vision, you won't be able to create authentic content.

3 Challenge 3: Groupthink

A third common challenge to creativity and innovation is groupthink, which is the tendency of groups to conform to a dominant opinion, avoid conflict, and suppress dissent. Groupthink can limit the diversity and quality of ideas, and lead to poor decision making. To overcome this challenge, you need to encourage diversity and inclusion, foster constructive debate, and solicit different opinions and perspectives. You can use tools such as the brainstorming rules, the six thinking hats, the devil's advocate, and the nominal group technique to stimulate creative thinking, avoid groupthink, and reach consensus.

Agreed. Although it’s important to understand that groupthink is ubiquitous; one cannot escape groupthink by merely self-identifying as someone who isn’t susceptible to it. Take Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) as an example of groupthink. In its current form, DE&I excludes social conservatives, suburbanites, and religious folk from all matter of workplace discussion involving holidays, culture, music, and politics.
