Practice Self-Care and Create a New Sense of Community

In the interest of serving our clients and our community, The Activ Consulting Group is sharing a few items for your consideration during this challenging time.  Our collective goal is to get through this uncertain time and emerge stronger.  You can influence that in several ways.

1.     Keep your communication focused.  Whether addressing employees, colleagues, family or friends, demonstrate empathy, offer assistance.  Share what you know and be clear about what you don’t know. As you discuss what is changing, remember to note what remains the same – your relationships, your organization’s values, the importance of the work you do each day as an employee or as a volunteer. Keep connection alive.

2.    Meditate.  A wonderful coach in South Pasadena – Dr. Davina Kotulski -- is offering a 45-minute “midday meditation” online Friday at 12 noon PT.  Cost is $10.  Encourage your associates to take this time to calm themselves and center.  Employees will be fresher and perhaps more productive afterward.  Note that one person may register and then others in the home or office may take part at no additional charge—just keep a safe distance as you meditate! Here’s the link to register:  https://www.davinakotulski.com/live-events

3.    Give blood.  We are already facing a national shortage.  If you have friends or co-workers working from home, encourage them to meet up at a certain place and time to give blood – keeping a safe distance, of course. Search “blood donations” online for locations and eligibility.

4.    Volunteer.  Even if you are staying home, you can help a local non-profit make calls for donations or other needs.  Our non-profits are hurting.  Many churches have organized outreach calls to check on their senior members.

5.    Order out.  Many restaurants are offering delivery or takeout items to keep some business going.  Support your favorite establishments at this trying time.

6.    Stay healthy.  Wherever you are, whatever you’re doing, but especially if you are staying home, eat healthy and get some exercise.  Share some recipes among your friends and co-workers.  Take advantage online exercise classes available free of charge or check out some YouTube videos.  Again, encourage your friends and co-workers to do some of these things “together” online. Create a new sense of community.

And, as your organization/business makes decisions going forward, let us know how we can help communicate those. In the event of necessary workforce reductions, know that we have experience in handling that difficult messaging in the most sensitive way possible.

As your organization may face staffing reductions -- due to illness or layoffs -- we can provide the extra hands you may need to manage through this crisis.

We are here to serve you. And, we are discounting our usual fees for non-profit organizations and small businesses, which we especially want to support at this time. Let us hear from you at Jane@activcg.com -- and be well.
