What an inspirational event with an inspirational group of people! We can’t wait to see what you achieve during your internships and look forward to meeting again in person at the Closing Ceremony in London. Good luck. 👏👏👏
✨ What an exciting way to kick off our #BlackInternProg for 2024! It was a joy to have many of our interns and host organisations join us today for the programme's opening ceremony. We were delighted to hear from: 🔹 Favour A. who completed her internship with the British Heart Foundation Data Science Centre last year and was involved in planning this year's programme. 🔹 Professor Martin Levermore MBE, DL, Chair of the Black Internship Programme Advisory Group, who welcomed attendees and emphasised the value of this career opportunity. 🔹 Our panelists George Opoku-Pare, Ifeanyi Chukwu and Jadene L, who provided insight into "a day in the life of a data scientist". 🔹 Eddie (Osemwingie) Osadolor, Esther Folorunsho and Precious-Gift Alele, during a fireside chat. 🔹 Tamrah Barber, ICF Certified Professional Coach, who provided insight into key skills for our interns, and Lars M. who focused on a "HDR UK Health Data Technical Challenge". 🔹 Sarah Cadman and Louise Toner, who closed off an inspiring ceremony. 🔹 The South African Gospel Choir, who shared a brilliant performance. Thank you to all of our speakers and attendees, and best of luck to our Class of 2024! 🎉 #HealthData #DataScience

Thank you so much for the great feedback. It was an amazing day - thanks so much for hosting and putting the day together. 👏👏👏
Black Internship Program - The gift that keeps on giving. A lot of times people have moments or experiences that are pivotal to their lives journey- things they can’t talk about their story without mentioning. For Isaac Newton, it was the discovery of gravity, for Marie Curie it was radium and polonium and for me it was the Health Data Research UK (HDR UK) Black Internship program. The program didn’t just give me wings, it taught me to fly. So elated to have come full circle with hosting the event this year! Grateful to the planning committee for the opportunity to host such an incredible event: Sarah Cadman Dona Reddiar Rachel Thornton-Osborne #blackinternprog #healthdatascience
