We need to have a discussion, as an industry. What do we do, when a patient comes in, with a wearable digital product that have diagnosed the patient correctly. Because that is what is happening right now. Digital healthcare as a trend is expanding, and products like smartwatches are getting smarter - to the point where they detect disease, before the doctor, making this kind of healthcare patient-driven. When a watch shows you, a healthcare professional, a diagnosis - would you trust it? It has been approved by european and danish cardiologists, that doctors should accept these diagnosis, as were they based on tried and true methods and equipment. But still, would you? Digital healthcare is a growing field, and we can only expect to see more of this. More and more devices will pass through the processes of becoming certified medical devices. #GreenInnovation #DigitalHealthcare
Thanks for coming on the show Andreas Pihl, i learned a lot about the conical considerations of digital health from listening to this conversation

1yI don’t get that …. The detection by Apple Watch is 510K regulated exactly as the traditional medical devices for EKGs which have to be interpreted by physicians. #atrialfibrillation might be fairly straight forward …but I’d take a validated algorithm’s word for many diseases (#diabeticretinopathy ?) any day. The requestion is more : How does societies deal with all of these diseases that previously were undetected, but now are brought to attention by technology? Check out the post by Gianrico Farrugia, M.D. from Mayo Clinic where this exact example is solved effectively through interoperability to the HCPs via EHRs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VY98bHaqe0
