I have 2 long VODs I was making into a shorter video. I was saving frequently but it crashed. I was going through and splitting the VODs into individual clips of key moments. When I reloaded, however, now they are all of different parts than I split them of, and there's some duplicates from just the end. Is this fixable? The only ones that didn't get ruined were a few from the very first VOD, but even some from later in that VOD did get messed up.
Hi,
as a total beginner I wonder, how I let the animation (automaticly) move *within* the fotos (and not let the black frame come into the picture, as if the whole foto was moved on a black table).
Hope you understand my problem. (Had it also with WindowsMovieMaker, which was the reason to change to OpenShot.)
Thanks so much for your help and advice!
BTW: Mostly use fotos, less movies for my projects.
I'm new to editing and I've tried uploading this at least 6 different times as well as googling answers on how to fix this but nothing is working. I've tried changing the preferences in open shot to HD 720 60 fps 1280 x 720, I've made sure the export settings are the same, I'm at a complete loss. I've worked so hard on this video and I can't get it to work it is very frustrating. Any help at all would be extremely appreciated.
Hi,
I'm on Windows 11, I updated my OpenShot app and since then (at version 3.2.0), The application loads but freezes everytime. Here are my logs (I also attached an image of the app at startup, it freezes like this every time) :

Thanks for your help
Hey all, and anybody that may know. I just got done practicing editing a video I made with FRAPS of a scene from Skyrim SE. After saving it and going to VLC player to view it, I seen that it did NOT play the video at its original 1080 x 1920 full screen size....
Anyone know how to save an edited video in OpenShot to where it will play at its original resolution afterwards? Thanks!
So when I shorten down a 30min clip to just be the highlights of 30sec it saves up dead space so that the whole video is 30min long anyways.
In the past this was never an issue, it keeps happening even after I updated to the latest version.
Is this something I can fix or is it just a bug?
Version: 3.1.1
libopenshot: 0.3.2
OS: Ubuntu 22.04 Linux and Ubuntu 24.04 Linux
OpenShot can start, import .mp4 video and add video to track, but unable playing video properly.
The slider pointer remains permanently at the beginning of the track,
Warning: 'OpenShot Video Editor' is not responding
[Force Quit ] [Wait]
Warning popup again and again. Finally I have to quit OpenShot
Please help. Thanks in advance.
Regards
Does anyone have an earlier version of Openshot? I just updated the program, and now it just freezes when I open the program. Then the only way I can close is to "End Task" in Task Manager. Can someone help please?
I need to know for a music video (sorta)
UPDATE: I just downloaded the AppImage provided on the website, and I now have the updated version of the editor. It seems like the Debian repositories have an outdated version. I no longer need help with this issue...
Greetings. I've recently installed OpenShot and I'm currently testing it. However, I'm puzzled to discover that, when posing my cursor on the left or right border of any clip in the timeline, I can't drag it to change its duration. Initially I thought it was the way the program was made, but I've seen people using this function on videos.
Could anyone kindly provide me with some help? I'm on Linux (Debian), and have installed the program throught the Debian repositories.
Hello, normally my videos render at like 20-40 fps but right now it is under 1 fps, 0.98 fps to be exact but it is getting slower over time, it was 2 fps tomorrow and 4 fps the day before that, does anyone know what to do, I want to use my pc for other stuff too. The estimated time when I started was 12 hours and I thought I will wait it out but now after 24 hours it says 40 hours. Does anyone know how to fix this? I am scared too cancel too but if it fixes it I will rerender! Thank you!
My pc is an intel i5 9400f and rtx 3070. I know its not the best but it is normally faster than this.
i have a 80 Mb mov file from a security cam and when i do Export Video n select 10000 frames i get a clip of the correct length but no image. i've double checked the parameters:
export to: video only
start frame 1
end frame 10000
nHD 360p 15fps (640 x 360)
bit rate: 9471 b/s
this gives me 10000/900 = 11minutes of blank video
I get the following message:
Unable to execute File
C:\Program Files\OpenShot Video Editor\openshot-qt.exe
CreateProcess Failed: Code 740
The requested operation requires elevation.
The program will not open!
The save current frame or frame export is missing from 3.2.0. - I had to go back to 3.1.11
I've just uploaded the latest version of OpenShot and noticed that the visual representation is different. With the previous version, the size of the various elements was much smaller - for example I could see a number of Timeline toolbars underneath eachother and could see far more files in the project fles window.
I've checked as many settings as I could find, but I can't find a way to make the basice view smaller. The current visual ratio is far too large for my requirements (it's like I have a web browser set to 200% zoom!!).
Can anyone help with this dilemma? Many thanks in advance.
I've just downloaded v3.2.0 but I find that it takes a lot longer to respond than the previous version. Am I doing something wrong?
hello

it is like i am being forced into piracy ...
I've been learning OpenShot for the past for weeks. I really like the tool, and it does over 90% of what I need. One request I have is adding tools for color grading. Having a historgram/parade/waveform/vectorscope view that represents the current frame would be absolutely awesome for matching colors and skin tones between scenes.
I am fairly new to OpenShot and am animating a lyric video. I use hand-written text for the lyrics. I want it to feel like it is like a flipbook animation. In those, the objects slightly quiver since they're not exactly in the same place on each page. Is there any way to mimic this quickly in OpenShot?
I love using OpenShot to edit my videos. But after I installed the latest version, the app is now completely broken and unresponsive. I have a Windows 11 PC, I don't know if the same issue exists on other operating systems (Mac, Linux). Is there a way to revert back to the previous version of OpenShot?
Hello,
I'm currently working on a project where I am screen recording the videos from web via BandiCam and using Openshot 3.1.1x86_64 version to trim and export the videos to google drive.
I'm new to video editing, and this is the first time I'm doing something like this. So, currently I'm exporting the videos using current selection below:
Profile: All Formats
Target: CPU MP4(h.264)
Video Profile: HD 720p 60fps (1280x720)
Quality: High
I'm using i5 13th 13420H with 16GB Ram and 512GB SSD
My concern is, when I'm exporting the file, the video quality is not as expected or same as the video from web. I know it's HD720p but is there a way I can keep the file size low and quality higher? Any settings to configure?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
New to Openshot and I like it but I downloaded 3.2 and it will not fully load on windows 11. It will partially load then it just spins. Windows is up to date as is my Nvidia video driver. 3.1.1 worked just fine
was released yesterday. Seems like a nice improvement!
