Let's keep this in one place. It's not helpful for anyone to post these links in various places. --Dorades (talk) 22:17, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, no problem. Where ? Kevlo007007 (talk) 22:28, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Where you already posted those (https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Wikidata%3ARequests_for_deletions&diff=2092367780&oldid=2092364450). --Dorades (talk) 08:01, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

deletion of an object

[edit]

Hi Dorades, could you please alert me before deleting an object? It is not kind if I do not have the chance to review or save my work. Could you please tell me how to visualize the json data of Q121697405, because you deleted it today. Thank you Ms040got (talk) 20:55, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ms040got, you should have gotten a notification through linking your user name here. Did you get one?
Also, I did not delete this item since I am not an administrator and do not have the rights to delete items. What I did do was nominating this item for deletion since it did not show any signs of notability. Later on, one admin decided to delete it. I don't know about your visualization of items, but all Wikidata items should meet the Wikidata notability criteria (cf. Wikidata:Notability). Regards, --Dorades (talk) 21:14, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the answer,
1. sure I got a notification, but one hour later it was deleted by @Ymblanter, there is no chance to discuss your nomination. There should be a minimum of 24 hours or more time to be fair. This is clearly unfair in an community project.
2. I still asked, how to see the json data after a deletion to save the work. It should be possible.
Thanks Ms040got (talk) 06:46, 10 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I see that this deletion caused nuisances for you. Unfortunately I can't help you with these issues; maybe you want to bring them to Wikidata:PC? --Dorades (talk) 10:09, 10 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
sorry, but I do not understand how this project chat will help me with your decision something to nominate and now it is gone. So, how is that possible that you just nominate something and then somebody @Ymblanter else just deletes it without a chance? is this a normal procedure in interacting with contributors? Can I also just nominate something and mean its not notable and then somebody else just deletes if without knowledge about it? how is that working? Thanks Ms040got (talk) 18:02, 10 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's more or less (and only partially, by far not every deletion has to be listed there first) how deletion of items in Wikidata works; I don't know if it always have been like this: someone nominates an item for deletion and gives a reason and an admin decides if the item should be kept or deletes it. As you can see on Wikidata:Requests for deletions, there are nominations that are discussed more or less extensively, some stay there for months but most are deleted without a discussion. That's why I suggested to take this to the project chat since you seem to be discontent with this procedure, maybe it would be helpful to discuss this with the community.
In case you don't know, there is also a Wikidata:Guide to requests for undeletion. I have to say beforehand that this page is in my understanding primarily aimed at people creating items for promotion, but the procedure for undeletion is the same. --Dorades (talk) 18:51, 10 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

deletion of an object

[edit]

Hello, you have requested to delete this item Q125429545, but this artist's information is complete and he is a prominent artist. Please review. For this item, this artist has a name similarity with another person. Please check again. https://g.co/kgs/BEXADU3 https://isni.org/isni/0000000514344821 PersianRapGenius (talk) 07:24, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, if you are unhappy with the outcome of a deletion request, please see Wikidata:Guide to requests for undeletion. --Dorades (talk) 09:43, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Bertha Gxowa

[edit]

Hi! You reverted my merger between Nomkumbi Gxowa and Bertha Gxowa. These are in fact the same person – her full name is Bertha Nonkumbi Gxowa. My guess is that Nonkumbi Gxowa was created as a duplicate because lists of South African Members of the National Assembly sometimes refer to Nonkumbi Gxowa. But the only Gxowa who served as a Member of the National Assembly was Bertha Nonkumbi Gxowa. Jlalbion (talk) 16:38, 4 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thank you for your message. I reverted the merge because there were no hints that suggested that these two persons were the same (different name, only one was a member of the National Assembly -- before the merge). If you are sure about the identity of these items, feel free to revert me. I am sorry if this has caused trouble for you. Could you also have a look at Nonkumbi Gxowa (Q16744335)? Note that this person is tagged as male, but is this also the same person? --Dorades (talk) 14:04, 6 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

deletion with "not notable" reason

[edit]

It's really really discouraging that this also starts here now and items are randomly deleted with no other reason than "not notable". Then you can't even reply on the deletion page because that is _also deleted_. What problem are you fixing by doing this? And what criteria do you personally apply what appears not notable to you? Mutante (talk) 16:39, 26 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I assume you are referring to my RFD for ‎Q124312249. I nominated this item because it did not comply with any of the criteria for Wikidata notability in my view (cf. WD:N). Apparently, the deleting admin thought so, too. If you are unhappy with the outcome of the deletion, please read Wikidata:Guide to requests for undeletion.
I don't know what you mean by "that this also starts here now". Is this about the deletion process on another Wiki? Regards, --Dorades (talk) 19:12, 26 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
