Hi, |
|||
you deleted the above image which was in use on the English Wikipedia. What was the evidence that this was in fact a copyright violation? --Simonxag 11:54, 25 May 2008 (UTC) |
|||
:It was uploaded by RogerRanger, see Commons:Administrators%27_noticeboard#User_uploading_likely_copyright_material. Strong suspicion of numerous copyvios, suggested OTRS to prove us wrong. giggy (:O) 00:01, 26 May 2008 (UTC) |

You missed deleting :Image:WikiShroom2.png and :Image:WikiShroom3.png when you deleted :Image:WikiShroom.png. If the latter is really not sufficiently different (which IMO it was, but whatever), the former are not either. Anomie 11:26, 26 May 2008 (UTC) |

:Thanks, gone. My mistake for not noticing the different file extensions. Sorry they had to go - it sucks, I know, but them's the copyrights. giggy (:O) 11:31, 26 May 2008 (UTC) |

US license plates
I agree, if US law does not accept copyleft images of US license plates - all the images showing single plates should be deleted. I am afraid, however, you did not peruse this: Image:Amerykanskie.tablice.rejestracyjne.JPG was not a view of US plate pattern, it is a picture of a wall in a workshop with many American license plates, without graphic details.
Regards Julo 14:13, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
- I did peruse that image, in my opinion it still fell under the scope of deletion. If you disagree you're welcome to restore it. giggy (:O) 23:26, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
If you mind this picture should deleted, you should remove many other pictures, where you can see US plates, for instance
too. It would be rather irrational point of view. Image:Amerykanskie.tablice.rejestracyjne.JPG restored, because subject of this picture is not the detailed pattern of any US plate, but general view. Regards Julo 12:53, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- PS. See the usage of this picture in pl:wiki: w:pl:Tablica_rejestracyjna#S Julo 12:58, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- I doubt you can see as much of the plate on those cars as on the image in question, but that's probably a bit besides the point. Anyways you restored it, so all is well it seems. giggy (:O) 13:04, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi Giggy. You deleted here an image that aparently was in the public domain, but there is no comment about the motives. Can you tell me? Regards, --Roblespepe 18:56, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
- I restored it as the image falls under the public domain licensing for Cuba. Feel free to delete if I epically fail. Monobi (talk) 19:47, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

- Please Giggy, ¿can you answer me?. The image was restored, but the decision to delete it stills, and the discusion is closed. ¿Can you explain me what is the situation there, and what is going to happen with the image? I mentioned in the discusion page what is the correct template to applay to the image. Regards,--Roblespepe 13:46, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- Giggy has answered above, deleting the image was a mistake. I have removed the deletion request from the image. Regards, Finn Rindahl 14:07, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Hoi. Please inform the wikis using images *before* you delete them! We used this one on the main page and had an imagemap error on our main page out of a sudden. This is not acceptable. Please don't forget that Commons is also serving the Wikimedia projects and not only a wiki just for itself! You can not just go around and delete duplicates without notifying people using that stuff or fixing the links by yourself. It's your task as administrator to care about the usage of an image before you delete it. --Thogo (Disk.) 10:59, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- Crap. CommonsDelinker failed and I didn't double check it properly. I'm really sorry, it won't happen again. giggy (:O) 11:45, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks. Btw., now that there are image redirects possible, why not just changing the duplicate into a redirect instead of deleting? --Thogo (Disk.) 13:59, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- Oh... I wasn't aware of image redirects. Makes me look even sillier. I'll remember that. Sorry again, giggy (:O) 23:22, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Please, rename my account
Hi!
Please, rename my account Alessandro ==> Don Alessandro. Alessandro 19:51, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

If you're around...
...then, seeing as you know I'm me, are you able to help with this request — it'll save all the "please make a null edit to prove you're you" hassle. Thanks! Iridescenti 23:46, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Adoption
Commons probably doesn't have this, but I'd like your help all the same. I want to get more involved in Commons and I sort of feel like I've been dropped in the middle of a foreign city with no map. So yea, let me know. :) LaraLove 18:33, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
- Nah, there isn't really such a program, but there's plenty of helpful people around... I'm happy to answer any of your questions. I suppose I can't really suggest much unless I know what specifically you want to get involved in, but Commons:Welcome and Commons:Community Portal make good starting points. giggy (:O) 01:06, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

- Sorry if it wasn't clear. To prevent identity theft, we need you to give a link pointing to your Commons account from your PlWP account. So a diff saying "I'm Lothar25 on Commons" made while logged in as Sir Lothar on PlWP is needed. Thanks, giggy (:O) 00:19, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

SUL and usurpation question...
Hi Giggy. I have a question about the SUL and usurpation on commons: I am an active sysop over at en.wikipedia, under the username 'Islander'. I was originally named 'TheIslander', as 'Islander' was already taken, but before being promoted to sysop I managed to usurp the unused account. I have now taken ownership of the global SUL 'Islander' account, and have unified a number of my accounts, but here on commons I have a problem: User:Islander is already taken by a fairly active user. In this situation, who gets priority over the name? If it's me (as this would seem to suggest, with me being a sysop at en.wikipedia, and this Islander not being a sysop anywhere) how do I go about usurping him? If it's not me, is there anything I can do? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer :). TheIslander 18:19, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
- By the by, in case it's needed (it has been for some of my other usurpations), here's an edit to my en.wikipedia talk page to prove that I am me :). TheIslander 23:54, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
- Hey Islander (I'm DHMO on EnWP so I know you there :)). Have you tried contacting Islander? From my reading of Meta you probably will get the rename eventually, but I think the best course of action here is to ask nicely and try and sort things in a friendly manner. I'm not going to perform a rename for now unless he consents to it. giggy (:O) 02:27, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- Heh, never realised that you and Dihydrogen were one and the same :P. Best of luck with your current RfA ;). As for speaking with Islander, I will do, but probably not just yet. SUL seems (in my opinion) to have been rushed out, without the infrastructure to back it up - there should be a clear-cut set of rules for situations like this, dictating who gets priority over a name. There's also the slight issue that he has approached me in the past, asking how I'm using his name, so I'm not too sure how he'd take it. Hmm. Thanks for your advice though ;). TalkIslander 12:22, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
- I actually decided to ask him right now, as the wording was floating around in my head :P. If he agrees, I'll let you know. TalkIslander 14:50, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
