Paulu, It is not more easy, since I search for all the images uploaded last week that do not have a license and alert all the uploaders that the licenses are missing. I is a batch process. Also since I often run into images by same people, this process also alerts uploaders that something they are doing is not right, so they can be aware of it. Witaj! Pracuje aktualnie nad zamieszczeniem fotografii wszystkich wrocławskich krasnali i ujednoliceniem ich opisu w miarę uzyskiwania niezbędnych informacji. Wstawiłem szablon Artwork dla File:Weteran (Veteran) Wroclaw dwarf 01.JPG. Proszę rzuć okiem czy jest to zrobione właściwie, ponieważ chciałbym wstawić ten szablon stopniowo dla wszystkich krasnali (a jest ich do tego momentu już 272), a nie chciałbym narobić zamieszania. Use of #property data planned?

Gday Jarekt. Do you have information on when Commons is going to start to inhale Wikidata #property information into our templates? Having to populate Commons, and Wikidata equally is a nuisance, and I would much prefer to populate WD and have those details flow through to {{Creator}} templates, and then add any missed/additional data. First, I think we need to wait for wikidata properties to be accessible on pages that do not have interwiki links to that specific wikidata page. As I understand it that is what we need to get it to work, I might be wrong. Also wikidata is not much on the radar since me and most other active template developers are learning lua, which is much more sane way of writing templates. I just started to look on modules that call wikidata from lua, but I was not thinking about rewriting Creator template yet and I did not hear about anybody else thinking about it. Guys there is still a debate here on how the links wikidata<->commons should be done.

I am not sure we should invest too much in wikidata now (I say that, but I modified VN to access wikidata ;-))

You should also look at bug 47930 that involves commons template to be able to access multiple wikidata items (category and article for the same species, for exemple)

Qrcze, muszę Ci powiedzieć, że podzielam też trochę te obawy. Czy damy rade to prawnie obronić, kiedy zwróci się do nas autor z żądaniem usunięcia tego pliku? Ja nie jestem takim znowu fachowcem w sprawach licencji i wszystko co wiem to to co zaobserwowałem na Commons, wiec czasami się zastanawiam na ile decyzje oparte na argumentach prawnych maja wspólnego z prawem uprawianym poza światem Wikipedii. Licencje dotyczące grafik logo o ile składają się tylko z Logotypu (np. to) zazwyczaj uważane są za PD i używają {{PD-textlogo}}. Także logo które używają "prostych" figur graficznych, np. to mogą używać {{PD-shape}}. Ale nie ma wiele przykładów grafik które są zbyt skomplikowane i nie są w PD, ale np. większość logo wikipedii nie używa tych dwóch licencji. Jeden z problemów z licencjami Logo to to ze wiele kompanii lubi jak maja ich logo w artykułach Wikipedii i nie protestują ze wiele tych licencji jest bzdurne. Wracając do file:Metro Warszawskie logo.png to jest to dosyć "proste" logo i mamy wiele innych bardziej skomplikowanych logo które twierdza ze nie spełniają wymogu oryginalności. Ale trzeba pamiętać ze to logo musi spełniać taki wymóg w Polsce i w Stanach, wiec jeśli w Polsce sprawa była w sadzie to może być dosyć proste sprawdzić czy któryś z prawników używał podobny argument. Jeśli sad zgodził się ze prawa autorskie do kogoś należą, to potrzebujemy zgodę tego kogoś by trzymać ta grafikę na Commons. --Jarekt (talk) 13:55, 23 December 2013 (UTC)

Recent software changes

• The latest version of MediaWiki (1.23wmf8) was added to test wikis and MediaWiki.org on December 19. It will be enabled on non-Wikipedia wikis on December 31 and on all Wikipedia wikis on January 2, 2014 (calendar).
• You can now test the new search tool ("CirrusSearch") on all Wikisource, Wiktionary and Wikimedia chapter wikis hosted on Foundation servers. Enable "New search" in your Beta features preferences. [1]
• There was a bug where notifications were not sent when the signature of the user leaving the message linked to a translated namespace. The problem was fixed in the software and will soon be fixed on Wikimedia sites. [2] [3]
• You can now use the log-in system for external tools (OAuth) on all Wikimedia wikis that use the unified login. [4]
• If your wiki adds stars or other icons to interwiki links for featured articles in other languages, you may need to change the JavaScript code. [5]

Multiple restores

Hi Jarekt. I noticed your post at UDEL. I don't know of any mass restore tool on Commons. I asked Rillke about one a few weeks ago. I've done a few of these myself, and I had to do them one-by-one by hand. In one case, I had to restore over 200 images, one at a time! It's tough, but if you find a better alternative please let me know about it on my talk. INeverCry 21:36, 29 December 2013 (UTC)

I have no idea what the problem with license or copyright is with this file. The uploader gave it a particular license. I maintained the same license when I adjusted the tone of the image. A user named Nevertime constantly uploads images from flickr without ordering a {{Flickrreview}}

Almost all of this person's have not been reviewed like these:

• File:Lavoro del vasaio.jpg (April 2013)

• File:Patella (lampada).jpg could be his oldest unmarked image...from May 2012. Someone needs to order a bot to order a {{Flickrreview}} on this uploader's images sadly.

• File:Acciughe salate in scatola.jpg dates to October 2011...and has never been marked either. I think this will turn up perhaps 100 images I have now notified the uploader.

Witaj, wszystkiego najlepszego w Nowym Roku:) Wgrałem wczoraj skan odezwy ŻOB, i umieściłem w trzech artykułach. Dla pewności dodałem obydwie licencje, nie udało mi się bowiem ustalić, kto ją napisał - chociaż Bernard Mark wspomina, że mógł być to Samsonowicz z Bundu - i czy przeżył powstanie. Nie ustaję w wyszukiwaniu wartościowych materiałów, które mogłyby wzbogacić Wiki, no i mam znów pytanie do Ciebie. Europeana ma w domenie publicznej zdjęcie z odsłonięcia pomnika Fryderyka Chopina 14 listopada 1926. Łamię sobie głowę, czy i jaką amerykańską licencję można byłoby dobrać dla tej fotografii. Ja myślę o wrzuceniu reszty zdjęć z Raportu Stroopa czy powstania w Getcie Warszawskim. Co fotografii z Europeana to spróbował bym licencji {{Anonymous-EU}} z Amerykańską {{PD-1996}}. • The old note-taking site (Etherpad) was removed on December 30, 2013. You can see most of the documents on the new site. [32]

Problems

• On January 2, Wikimedia Commons, Wikidata and all Wikivoyage projects were broken for 2 hours due to language cache update issues.
• On the same day, it was not possible to edit most wikis for about 30 minutes, due to a database replication problem.

Future software changes

• The new search tool (CirrusSearch) will be added as the default search method for Italian Wikipedia, French Wikisource, Wikidata and all Wikivoyage sites, and as a second search method for the German Wikipedia and all Wikibooks sites on January 6. [33]
• Spanish, French, Portuguese and Russian Wikipedia users will also be able to enable CirrusSearch in their Beta Features options. [34]
• Plural form rules for some languages will be changed. Many translations of the user interface for Belarusian, Russian, Serbian, Ukrainian and other languages will need to be changed. [35] [36] [37]
• You will see a warning when you try to delete a page linked to from other pages. [38] [39]
• You will be able to hide redirect pages on the list of protected pages. [40] [41]

Azimuth parameter in location template / Irritating direction of the north arrow

I wrote User:Ebraminio and he refered to you. What do you think on User_talk:Ebraminio#Azimuth_parameter_in_location_template_.2F_Irritating_direction_of_the_north_arrow? Changes to Template:Rotate/layout

Please also adjust the template-text which is wrong now: If the thumbnail on the right side is in the correct orientation, please just purge this image (maybe refresh your browser cache) and remove this template. And make sure to note that in older browsers the magic you inserted won't go to happen, except we add something to our Common.css for IE 6-8. See Template talk:Rotate#A new class?. I will answer about changes to {{Rotate}}, where I probably should should have discussed it beforehand anyway. About {{Transform-rotate}} vs. {{RotateStyle}} they are almost identical and should be merged. I will do it and keep the older one. In the second thought all the changes needed to already translated text would create quite a mess, but I still think it would be more clear. By the way I did not know that our rotation magic does not work for all browsers. {{RotateStyle}} is used to show north direction in the {{Location}} templates with a header, Nobody ever complained that it does not work for IE, but I just tested with mine and it does not work. --Jarekt (talk) 17:53, 7 January 2014 (UTC)

Reference is made to your comment on my uploaded logo lacking source. Sorry for that, but i did not find the right way of labelling it. I work for the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. We have the ownership of this logo, and it is free to use for everyone. Absence de licence Blasons

Bonsoir Jarekt, L’assistant d'importation ne fonctionne pas bien chez moi (les miniatures s'affichent rarement) mais surtout il me refuse les blasons, tous les blasons échiquetés sable et argent. J'utilise donc l'ancien formulaire. Il semble que ce soit cet ancien formulaire qui ne ne prends pas en compte le paramètre |Source= ("Own work / Travail personnel / Obra personal"). Joan Saura Martí picture

Jarekt, I obtained permission from the author of this picture to upload it at Wikicommons. He wrote a Wikimedia statement and sent it to me by e-mail (De: Frederic Navarro Cifani [48] Enviado el: martes, 10 de diciembre de 2013 19:15 Para: Margarida Ullate Estanyol Asunto: Autorització). I resent it to 'info-ca@wikimedia.org' the following day. Wrong procedure? Thanks.

Senator Ellen Corbett Picture

Jarekt, Please take a look at the File:Senator Ellen M Corbett CA10.jpg. I added {{PD-self}} but I am not sure if I did it correctly. I have never edited anything in Wikipedia. The picture was given to me by the Senator's Office and I have provided that email as Ticket: ticket:2013121910019854. Please advise is something more needs to be done. Thanks for you help!

No license or bad license on my JPG (of Lake Léman, 31/12/2013 - & others)

Thank you Jarekt for warning me kindly about my blunder. Since I'm afraid I shan't be able to do it properly by myself (being an old dunce in computerizing), could you add the correct license authorizing everyone to use those JPG in Wikipedia without restriction. Of course this goes too for all the images I formerly deposited on WP Commons & happened to mis-license or not license : since I gave them, they are for everybody to use in WP.
