Hi Ronhjones, Thanks for protecting Photographer's Photos on Wikipedia from Copyright Violations - it's a lot of hard work, but much appreciated! Regarding File:Ella Silver Pet of the Month Nov 2018 - by Glenn Francis.jpg, That is my photo and I did license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 International license. Once I contribute a photo to Wikipedia/Commons, it's typical that they get copied and used frequently, as you discovered. Yes, I know that the people who use them seldom credit me as a condition of usage, but that's just the way things go. Thanks again for your devoted work on Wikipedia and please cancel your request for deletion. Toglenn (talk) 04:08, 27 February 2019 (UTC)
- @Toglenn: Someone already removed it. I fixed your template on the page - missing some curly brackets. Could I offer to modify that page (User:Toglenn/Credits) to show the OTRS ticket number you had in 2008 for Image:Louise_Griffiths_2008.jpg, and I'll annotate the ticket at OTRS to show your images with the template are approved. We do this for quite a few people like yourself. Ronhjones (Talk) 17:27, 1 March 2019 (UTC)

I took the image of "Changan" from the article "Changan de wikipedia"
Hi, I do not know what is the problem with the image? The image is from another article of wikipedia, and wikipedia is an encyclopedia of free knowledge, in that case the image should be removed from the other section as well, and also the image is according to the logo of the company, which helps people to know that they are in the right article with the help of the image. can you help me? — Preceding unsigned comment added by GabrieldeChile (talk • contribs) 00:13, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
- @GabrieldeChile: Image page is here - en:File:Changan_logo_2.png - it's a copyrighted image used under the US fair use policy (there are over 600,000 such images on en-wiki). Non free images cannot be uploaded to commons, the must be uploaded to the local Wikipedia IF that Wikipedia supports non free usage - see m:NFC for wikis that allow it.
- Note:I suspect you want it for es-wiki, I can't see that in the list, but there is es:Wikipedia:Sobre_el_uso_legítimo which might explain why it's not in the list. Ronhjones (Talk) 01:29, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
Unbanned Flickr account
Dear Ron,
Have you read this discussion on the Admin list? Apparently you forgot to do something according to Alexis Jazz....which explains why I can't review an image. Best, --Leoboudv (talk) 19:45, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Leoboudv: Why two unlinked lists...! I think I've done it all now. Ronhjones (Talk) 20:40, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
- Comment: Thank You Ron. You have indeed fixed the problem as I managed to license review the image. Thanks for your kind help from Metro Vancouver, Canada. Best Regards, --Leoboudv (talk) 20:43, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
Family heritage photo of Wilhelm Cauer
Hi Ronhjones, please help me to upload the image of my grandfather Wilhelm Cauer so it will not be deleted right afterwards. I guess that the first upload had an odd copyright and the second upload seems to be deleted because the picture was the same as the first. Rudolfpolzer (talk) 07:17, 25 February 2019 (UTC)
I made an undeletion request for the first picture, File:Cauer Wilhelm 1900-1945 1935-06-00.jpg, but it was ignored. Rudolfpolzer (talk) 07:20, 25 February 2019 (UTC)
- @Rudolfpolzer: The issue if stated at Commons:Deletion requests/File:Cauer Wilhelm 1900-1945 1935-06-00.jpg - we need to know who the photographer was. Owning a photo, does not give you the copyright - it will always stay with the photographer (unless there is a written transfer of copyright) until 70 years after (s)he dies. It looks like a typical studio shot, so I don't see any way of resolving the issue - short of waiting until 1st Jan 2056, where we are allowed to assume the copyright has expired. Ronhjones (Talk) 17:34, 25 February 2019 (UTC)
I need your help, because I added a new previously unpublished photo of my grandfather, taken by his father, who died in 1940 (and I am his heir so I own the copyright of this picture). But probably I entered something wrong, and the new picture is marked for deletion. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Wilhelm_Cauer_1930-09-04.jpg Rudolfpolzer (talk) 11:43, 6 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Rudolfpolzer: You originally did not add a license - so the auto system tagged it. Someone has tidied it up already. Ronhjones (Talk) 16:48, 6 March 2019 (UTC)
Wiko
Hil. I've seen an OTRS ticket regarding this file. Why do not qualifies as PD-textlogo? Regards. --Ganímedes (talk) 18:17, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Ganímedes: It might be textlogo - that would depend on the country of origin (not specified, so how can one check the COM:TOO level), and current Emokiw is claiming they are the copyright holder of a company logo, obviously wrong. Ronhjones (Talk) 20:44, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
- That's fixing simply asking to replace "own work" with the proper name of the owner or a link I guess... --Ganímedes (talk) 21:34, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Ganímedes: So long as the COM:TOO for the country of origin is OK, if it was my country (UK), I would not be sure - bit too much artistic change to the letters in my opinion. Ronhjones (Talk) 22:21, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
- Fonts are fonts... DR is needed if so many doubts, even when I think the problem it's long more easy to solved. OTRS it's collapsing; a little bit help could be usefull. Regards. --Ganímedes (talk) 23:16, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
- I see you continue tagging different versions of the file, even when the company is french and no CR can be set over fonts. I'm telling the user to change license to PD-textlogo and cite right source, while we wating for the DR, since it's not clear at all to me that this file should be deleted. Clearly no TOO problem here. Regards. --Ganímedes (talk) 23:48, 6 March 2019 (UTC)

Deletion File:Oorkonde B.S.jpg
Hello Ronhjones, is it possible to restore this file? I did some research (Dutch Wikipedia 'copyright help center') after the earlier version was deleted and it appears copyvio isn't the case. The author wrote it in his public function as Dutch Chief of Defence; for that reason is it free of rights.
Greetings, Encycloon (talk) 23:58, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Encycloon: One should ask for restore of the original version, and not the re-upload out of process, so that the deleting admin and the original tagging editor can comment. COM:UDR would therefore be best or contact the deleting admin - I can give some history for you
- File name is File:Brief Bevelhebber Nederlandse Strijdkrachten.jpg
- Image source was quoted as "Prins Bernhard of the Netherlands"
- Deletion rationale by the deleting admin (Túrelio) was "Author died in 2004, which is not 70 years ago yet"
- Hope that helps Ronhjones (Talk) 02:06, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
This discussion as Encycloon already stated has been discussed, and after discussion admitted, I can not understand any policy of direct removing without consulting the one who uploaded the file, this is a tiring non discussing specifically aimed at the United States, with all their legal and copyrights. I fully agree with Encycloon. This file is a written document made by the Dutch Government in 1945. Mschapink (talk) 07:54, 5 March 2019 (UTC)

Hello @Ronhjones: , I hope you fine I have uploaded this photo file:EngineerLogo.png on commons and you have marked it as "missing permission", I have updated the link that shows the license, it's a free creation website, I hope you revise this photo again. thanks --Mohanad Kh (talk) 14:39, 6 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Mohanad Kh: Free to make, not free to re-use. Check https://www.designevo.com/pricing.html - you don't own the copyright unless you buy the expensive package. Ronhjones (Talk) 16:51, 6 March 2019 (UTC)

Good evening, I proceeded to load a better version of the logo and to insert the license. Can it be okay? https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Logo_Associazione_Arca_Macerata.jpg --Tommasopaiano (talk) 17:42, 7 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Tommasopaiano: It needed a link to the source object and a link to the legal page that shows the license - fixed that for you. Ronhjones (Talk) 20:02, 7 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for noticing possible copyright violation. I took this picture at home from a borrowed book from the local public library. If this is not legal the picture should be removed. I guess you know better than me about this situation. I use this occasion to ask you in general terms if it is not permitted to take a picture of a book and use it in Wikipedia. In fact I only thought that it is not allowed to use pictures that belong to other people or institutions. Please let me know what are the rules for this kind of situation. Thank you again. HCa

- @HCa: Any photo of a copyrighted work retains the original copyright. Book covers are copyright to the publishing house. Had it not been for the logo on the books, one might have got away with {{PD-textlogo}} - for texts and very simple shapes. If the books were very old then it could be PD, but these are way too new. Ronhjones (Talk) 22:34, 7 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Ronhjones: Hi Ronhjones! I took away the picture from the article. But the picture itself is still in Commons. How can I take it away completelly? HCa (talk) 10:05, 8 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi Ron, I uploaded the file above and have made contact with the communications department and they have sent in permission for this file. Would you be willing (if you’re an OTRS person) check on the email. She cc’d me in the email so so can forward the one the rep sent to permissions. Thanks, Corky 01:57, 9 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Corkythehornetfan: Image already annotated. As they used the full correct url, the KrdBot applies the OTRS received banner. It would have been easier to change the license on Flickr though - see User:Ronhjones/PDMreply... Ronhjones (Talk) 04:46, 9 March 2019 (UTC)
- Oh, gotcha.. wasn’t sure how that works! I would agree with you now that’s i think about it, I may even make that suggestion to her.. thanks, Corky 02:51, 10 March 2019 (UTC)
Hi. Thank you for noticing possible copyright violation. But this file is derived from file:Minidisc.jpeg with minor color difference. Minidisc image are again licensed under GFDL. This is stated in the filedesc. If this is not the problem, please elaborate. Regards Premeditated (talk) 17:17, 10 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Premeditated: It says it comes from https://twitter.com/kanyewest/status/1041801975291990016 - which does not have a compatible license. The original disc may be free, but if someone has added some artistic work, then the derivative might not be free. If you did the colour changing then the source is file:Minidisc.jpeg and not twitter. Ronhjones (Talk) 17:22, 10 March 2019 (UTC)
- The main difference between the images is a simple "remix", where the label is purple. So I will update the file with file:Minidisc.jpeg as source. - Premeditated (talk) 19:00, 10 March 2019 (UTC)
Hallo, please restore the https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:UploadWizard?uselang=cs&wpDestFile=Kantoři_v_současném_složení_(2019).jpg file you deleted. Hello, this file is under public domain because of author choise, why you want to delete it ? License is here : [1], what can I put at the place of PD ? --81.220.128.234 17:36, 10 March 2019 (UTC)
- @81.220.128.234: No it's not. The flickr owner has used the wrong selection. A Public Domain Mark is for images that are already in the PD - like very old. See User:Ronhjones/PDMreply. The Flickr user must change the selection - it will take them a few seconds. Ronhjones (Talk) 17:43, 10 March 2019 (UTC)
- I have pubish a lot of images as PD, my own, as PD, no one says to me this was a problem. Why this file is a problem for you ? I don't know the author, but its intention is clear : is a public domain photo, so anyone can use it. Idea that "author probably made a mistake with licence" is only your opinion, licence status of photo is a fact.--Pạtạfisik 17:57, 10 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Patafisik: There is a proper "PD donation" option on Flickr - it's called "Public Domain Dedication (CC0)". It has not been used. It was previously agreed not to accept PDM on it's own - see COM:PDM Ronhjones (Talk) 18:33, 10 March 2019 (UTC)
- Hello Ronhjones, I asked to the user to change his licence, and he did. See [2] for details. Pạtạfisik 21:18, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Patafisik: All fixed. Most Flickr users are usually happy to change once explained. I don't think Flickr has done a very good job here. Ronhjones (Talk) 21:36, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
- I've been surprised by the author collaboration, but it's a pretty surprise. About Flickr, yes, I think so. I hope Flickr will fix this licence in the future. Have a nice day 81.220.128.234 08:23, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi Ronhjones, I got your message regarding image permission stating - This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license.
I took this image from twitter which was officially posted by the President of India, where the twitter says, By submitting, posting or displaying Content on or through the Services, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license (with the right to sublicense) to use, copy, reproduce, process, adapt, modify, publish, transmit, display and distribute such Content in any and all media or distribution methods (now known or later developed). This license authorizes us to make your Content available to the rest of the world and to let others do the same. This same image is used by all the press and medias for online/print publishing and others too, where most of them stating the source as twitter. That's why I upload it with a cc-zero licence.
If it is not appropriate or not valid, then please delete the image as I don't wish to violate any wiki rules. Thank You.

File:DigitalJournalismDec2018Cover.png
Hello! You recently deleted my image File:DigitalJournalismDec2018Cover.png because it is fair use non-free content. I understand this restriction, but I am wondering how I can make a case for the use of the photo. I based my uploading the photo on other academic journals which do something similar, e.g. American Journal of Sociology's File:Jan2006AJSCover.jpg. Can you point me to a guide or resource that instructs how to appropriately use media for the purpose of illustrating only the cover of an academic journal? Thank you! Zdemars (talk) 00:37, 17 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Zdemars: Fair use can only be uploaded to your local wiki - IF that wiki supports Non Free Content. See m:NFC for a list of wikis that do. Your example is on en-wiki - en:File:Jan2006AJSCover.jpg. On en-wiki you have to be autoconfirmed to upload files - en:WP:AUTOCONFIRM Ronhjones (Talk) 00:49, 17 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi Sorry i don't understand what to do : credit photo from shutterstock is written. I buy them. And i do all the work about the meridian. It's really complicated to understand and i can't do anything because i can't access the 3 files. Thanks for your help. loticoju — Preceding unsigned comment added by Loticoju (talk • contribs) 18:24, 17 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Loticoju: If Shutterstock has given you permission for full commercial re-use, then you will have to show that permission to the OTRS team - see COM:OTRS. Normally, buying a photo does not give you the copyright. Ronhjones (Talk) 20:28, 17 March 2019 (UTC)
Simple logos
Hi, It would be better to add {{PD-textlogo}} to simple logos rather than asking for a license or a permission. Regards, Yann (talk) 00:29, 18 March 2019 (UTC)
Hi Ronhjones. I see you've deleted this photo; so, I thought I just let you know about User talk:Marchjuly#File:World Table Hockey Championship 2017.jpg as courtesy. It seems the uploader is claiming that they've received permission from the copyright holder to upload the file to Commons and that an email has been sent to OTRS. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:15, 17 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Marchjuly: OTRS pending was added 20:29, 28 August 2018 - that uploaded was deleted by Yann 11:37, 6 February 2019. I see e-mails dated 27/08/2018 15:31 Ticket#2018082710007092 (no reply to this one hence the deletion), 16/03/2019 15:12 Ticket#2019031610003935 (both were forwarded e-mails - so not accepted) claiming earlier e-mails have been sent - also Ticket#2019030610009369 06/03/2019 17:52 from possibly the copyright holder, but it is not yet suitable. Ronhjones (Talk) 02:52, 18 March 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks for clarifying. You mentioned that the last email is "not yet suitable". Does this mean that someone at OTRS reviewed it and found it to be insufficient or that it hasn't been reviewed yet? Was the person who sent the email notified that it was insufficient and what exactly the problem was? Sorry for all the questions; I'm only asking in case the uploader posts something once again on my user talk asking about this or they try to re-upload the file (again). -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:47, 18 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Marchjuly: Not yet answered (only auto-reply). In my view, not enough info to validate identity. Ronhjones (Talk) 18:10, 18 March 2019 (UTC)

File tagging File:HitRail.png
HI Ronhjones the logo I uploaded is indeed Hit Rail's logo, as one can see on our website www.hitrail.com. Our lawyer is looking for the official title showing our copyright, but it can take time. For the moment please go ahead with removing it from Commons Regards --Udellar (talk) 07:31, 18 March 2019 (UTC)

Deletion of File:NMDA Inhibited.png (Copyright)
Hello,
This file was marked as a potential copyright violation after I uploaded it to Wikimedia. However, I feel that I should mention I took the file from Wikimedia in the first place (original name was simply NMDA or NMDA Channel), downloaded it, added a red figure on it to indicate that it was being blocked (for an article about blockage/inhibition), and reuploaded it. I was hoping to ask exactly what went wrong, since the base image was already on Wikimedia when I got it and had apparently been confirmed to be a viable piece of media without copyright problems. Is there anything I should do?
Sazfar21 (talk) 00:09, 16 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Sazfar21: I found the original. It was still a copyright violation as the original file had not been specified as required in the license, and it has to use the same license. I've restored and fixed the description. Ronhjones (Talk) 15:07, 16 March 2019 (UTC)
Thank you! Just to clarify, does this mean it is okay to use or is confirmed to be under a non-use license and both the modified and original versions should not be used? I was planning to create an alternate but I'm not entirely certain whether your response means the issue is resolved or if the image has been confirmed as a non-usable image. Any advice would be much appreciated!
Sazfar21 (talk) 03:36, 17 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Sazfar21: All resolved. Now properly set up as a free image. If you create any more derivative of the original just remember to attribute the original uploader like I did. Ronhjones (Talk) 17:35, 17 March 2019 (UTC)
Thanks very much! Sazfar21 (talk) 05:41, 21 March 2019 (UTC)
Dear Ronhjones:
We're the agency for the actress 張榕容(https://zh.wikipedia.org/zh-tw/%E5%BC%B5%E6%A6%95%E5%AE%B9). Yesterday we uploaded the profile picture which we took the actress to shoot it in China for a Chinese magazine. We represent the actress and organize her all social media. And we discovered the profile picture has been deleted or removed. Please kindly restored our actress's profile picture on the page, Thanks
- @Avelyn Chen: It had no license for the image and there was an external source. Assuming the image is to be released as a free image (I cannot tell as there was no license), then the copyright holder of the image at https://kknews.cc/fashion/g5bmn88.html must go to COM:OTRS to donate the copyright (to at least cc-by-sa-4.0 - the strictest license we allow). I note versions of the image is already on several sites on the internet, you might like to note that, it is far easier to upload to commons when it is the first upload in the world - uploading here second always makes it a much more difficult process. Ronhjones (Talk) 04:51, 19 March 2019 (UTC)
- Sorry about my mis-click here! DMacks (talk) 23:07, 19 March 2019 (UTC)
I'm actually curious about this one. It's cropped from a screenshot of an application, unless I'm mistaken, no? Hiàn (talk) 20:23, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Hiàn: It could be - the Review banner is only an indication that it is on a remote web site with the stated license. It can still be a copyright issue if the remote web site owner has illegally copied it from somewhere else.
- In that case I'll open up a DR and see what happens as a result. Thanks for your thoughts. Hiàn (talk) 21:47, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
Can not load non-free photo of a long-dead person
Hello! Please help me. Can not load non-free photo of a long-dead person. I fill in all the necessary items correctly, but the Download button does not work. Previously, with another nickname, I was able to upload similar photos. Recently changed my name. Maybe this is the case? Thanks for the help and advice!--Oleg Bor (talk) 04:03, 21 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Oleg Bor: Commons does not allow non-free images. I suspect that is why it's not letting you upload. Non-free images can only be uploaded to some local wikis - see m:NFC for alist Ronhjones (Talk) 04:14, 21 March 2019 (UTC)

Notification about possible deletion: File:EUODP video ES.jpg
Dear Ronhjones, all the files come from the European Union Open Data Portal https://data.europa.eu/euodp/en/home We, the Publications Office of the European Union, are the copyright holder for all of them. They are screenshot taken form ODP – all ODP editorial content is free to reuse. Please don't delete the files.
- @Dorota Banska: You need to correctly set up the images - you cannot claim you are the copyright holder and give them "cc-by-sa-4.0" license - if they are from a open gov source. I would suggest they are set up like (change source, author, permission and license)
=={{int:filedesc}}== {{Information |description={{en|1=Screenshot from EUODP}} |date=2019-02-18 16:07:33 |source=<insert a web link to the image (or web page) to show it's on the data.europa.eu/euodp web site> |author=EU Open Data |permission=https://data.europa.eu/euodp/en/about |other versions= }} =={{int:license-header}}== {{PD-because|EU Open data}}
- Note that https://data.europa.eu/euodp/en/about says Generally speaking you can reuse data free of charge, provided that you acknowledge the source - as they stand, this has not been followed, so is in breach of their terms. Ronhjones (Talk) 13:39, 21 March 2019 (UTC)
Dear Ronhjones, many thanks for your explanations. Would it be ok like this? https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:EUODP_video_ES.jpg — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dorota Banska (talk • contribs) 10:54, 22 March 2019 (UTC)

Deletion of Breakout: Dark Prison's images
The images I used is widely shared by the author. The image has copyrights but very likely the author is sharing throughout different websites, news or journals. If wiki requires, I can have written consent from author in order to post it on wiki. How do you think? Thanks very much. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gamerseven (talk • contribs) 02:38, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Gamerseven: Do read COM:OTRS first - that will show you how to do that. Ideally the copyright holder should e-mail the OTRS team directly. Remember that commons insists on non-revocable licenses that allow full commercial re-use - many such copyright holders do not want to give away such rights. Ronhjones (Talk) 03:59, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
- You might want to consider using some of the images as fair-use on en-wiki (have to upload to en-wiki, not here). BUT the use of fair use is quite restrictive and only allowed on full articles, not drafts. See en:WP:NFC Ronhjones (Talk) 04:02, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
Copyright of Aircraft Images
G'day,
A few images that I have uploaded onto wikipedia have been reported for copyright infringment. However, I am the owner of these images.
You included links to websites that these images are also featured on. I have uploaded them to those websites as they are under my account. I have the RAW files of each photo for proof.
Could you please help fix the situation, thanks, Mitch.
- You have discovered the most important thing to do - always upload here first, anything else will get tagged as a copyright violation. I always try to make sure that the remote image is same size or larger (so as to be the possible source) - but there are others who will tag for deletion when they find smaller images, on the basis that if they find it elsewhere then it probably a copyright issue and they have not yet found the "big" one. See COM:OTRS to see how to send an e-mail to the permission team - normally the inclusion of the raw camera image, with full EXIF data, when it's bigger than anywhere else is enough to show ownership. When you send in the e-mail there will be an auto reply with a ticket number - let me know the number and I will sort out the images with a "OTRS received" banner. Ronhjones (Talk) 16:56, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
Tommy Seigler photos
Please undelete the photos you recently deleted. If you will see my username name, these are my photos of my father that I have all the right to publish. I have not taken these photos from anyone else or from any other site. According to the Commons:Licensing page you linked, I can post pictures that are my property if they are of public figures in a public place. Again, these are my pictures of my father wrestling in a public location in front of a public crowd. That meets every part of the criteria. I would ask that you and other editors please stop removing these pictures. If you need me to cite them in some other way please ask and don't just delete them. Brandonseigler (talk) 02:07, 28 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Brandonseigler: You can create any username you like that does not verify identity. You can only upload images that you hold the copyright of, that is not the same as owning a picture. Typically the copyright holder is the photographer, not the subject, unless there is a formal written transfer of copyright. You can only upload once, then please use COM:UDR to request undeletion the original images, so the original deleting admin is allowed to comment. I suspect you will need to use COM:OTRS to validate identity and show how you hold the copyright. Ronhjones (Talk) 03:24, 28 March 2019 (UTC)

Hello Ronhjones.
Georges Fréset is a famous painter and also my great-grandfather. Those files are paintings from my and my family's personnal collection. I took the pictures. Shall I do something else?
One exception is the file "Fréset 1.jpg" which is my picture taken in the Bourbonne-les-Bains public Museum. I can delete it if required!
Thank you very much. Kind regards

- @Namalric86: Then please got to COM:OTRS. Commons needs to validate that the artist, or their descendants has given permission. There is no way here to validate identity. Ronhjones (Talk) 04:08, 20 March 2019 (UTC)

File:Benu - barbecued quail.jpg
Hi, You have marked two pages on the Benu page. All of the photos I've added are either taken by me or owned by me. I am a representative of the restaurant. I'm quite new to wikipedia so please let me know I need to add any information to clarify copyright. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Infoedits (talk • contribs) 02:07, 29 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Infoedits: That's weird - I undid one, it didn't undo on your page, but it did on the image page... There is only one. When we find an image on a remote web site that is the same size or larger, then it gets tagged as a copyright issue. https://infatuation.imgix.net/media/reviews/benu/banners/Benu_0.jpg?auto=format&h=840&w=1336 is 1336 × 840 pixels and the commons image you uploaded is 900 × 630 pixels. You can either upload a much bigger image than 1336 × 840 pixels (using the "Upload a new version of this file" on the image page) or verify ownership by e-mail to the OTRS team - See COM:OTRS - if you do the latter, then add {{subst:OP}} to the image page. All the other images you uploaded were substantially larger than we images found. Ronhjones (Talk) 02:25, 29 March 2019 (UTC)
FoP Indonesia
I am not going to argue your RfD for File:UKDW pic03 auditorium.jpg because I accept you are just doing your job and I was just trying to be helpful by transferring a tagged candidate picture from Wikipedia. But one has to ask, what about all the other pictures of university buildings in Indonesia? Should they come out too? Verne Equinox (talk) 15:28, 29 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Verne Equinox: Probably, unless the building is old enough that the design has become PD. COM:FOP Indonesia has no exemptions. They are all OK on en-wiki, as only US copyright applies - and US allows images of buildings. I have deleted plenty of Indonesian building pictures on commons. There are not many countries that buildings are an issue, I know Philippines is another one that comes up often. Ronhjones (Talk) 16:44, 29 March 2019 (UTC)

Are you bullshitting me? Vandalizing??!! At first: Delete my name from the page to save my rights, I don't want to have my personal name published on your website. I'm not connected with the image anymore. If you want, keep "rabenlust" but not my personal name. If you don't do it, it's illegal against my wish. Then: I warn users to use the image in the future because you don't delete it. Additional to this the new owner is Vodafone Australia and I'm sure the will fight for teir rights for new usage of the image while the old users are fine. Do you think it would be a big deal to be blocked from your page?? Do your job, little prick and do not waste my time while writing those stupid warnings.I wait for your answer to get entertained and hen I close down my account here that i never used in 12 years. If you do not delete my personal name on the image details I make a big deal out of it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rabenlust (talk • contribs) 02:23, 30 March 2019 (UTC)

Delete older version of File:Solitude.jpg
Hi,
Thank you for reverting the image File:Solitude.jpg to the original version.
However, I notice the older version uploaded by Hassan ahachi appears to be cropped from a larger image- example here- which I assume means it's likely he/she isn't the copyright holder.
I'm not sure what the correct tag would be under circumstances, but could you possibly arrange to have this deleted from the image history please? Thanks.
(FWIW, none of this user's other uploads appear to be obvious copyvios).

Coat of arms
Hi. As regards File:Znak mc col gr.png, symbols of self-government units (municipalities, municipal parts, regions) are copyright-free in Czechia. Cheers! --ŠJů (talk) 21:40, 1 April 2019 (UTC)
- @ŠJů: OK. The difference between a coat of arms and a logo is sometimes not so easy to judge. Ronhjones (Talk) 22:24, 1 April 2019 (UTC)
- The Czech Copyright Act talk about "a state symbol and symbol of a regional self-governing unit". e.g. there is no relevant distinction between coat of arms and logo. However, there is a relevant distinction between self-governing units and all other subjects. E.g. municipal company or municipal funded organization is not a self-governing unit. --ŠJů (talk) 00:58, 2 April 2019 (UTC)
Hi Ronhjones,
We have added a description for Gulf Today new logo as requested by you. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Maryam.a.alnajjar (talk • contribs) 12:42, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Maryam.a.alnajjar: It's the license that is wrong. it cannot be {{self|cc-by-sa-4.0}} Unless you are the copyright holder for Gulf, and that would have to be verified by COM:OTRS. I suspect it should be {{PD-textlogo}}. unless you know better. Ronhjones (Talk) 16:17, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Ronhjones: Actually we have some concerns of making this logo as free license, it's written that users can use our logo even for commercial product, or they can modify it, so can someone act as they are Gulf Today and use our logo in their own websites, am i right?
How this common licence has protected the large entrprises such as Google or Microsoft? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Maryam.a.alnajjar (talk • contribs) 09:31, 1 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Maryam.a.alnajjar: Correct. If you are not sure you want it here, I can delete it. Microsoft does have its logo that same way - File:Microsoft logo (2012).svg - of course that is also protected as a trademark, which can restrict some re-use. Ronhjones (Talk) 17:14, 1 April 2019 (UTC)
What about the edits that have been submitted by Incnis Mrsi As mentioned it doesn't meet the threshold of originality and it's a clear cut geometric text logo. Can you check the latest edit, please? And thanks for your time and follow up. Maryam.a.alnajjar (talk) 18:25, 1 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Maryam.a.alnajjar: I did say it was probably a textlogo - which is what Incnis Mrsi has put, nothing wrong with his edit. Ronhjones (Talk) 18:30, 1 April 2019 (UTC)
Thank you both for clarification. Can we have the same trademark notice under Microsoft logo licensing tab? I mean after submitting the logo under the free license as requested by Wikipedia, and if yes, how can it be added, please?

- @Maryam.a.alnajjar: Just add {{Trademark}} to the page. Ronhjones (Talk) 21:21, 1 April 2019 (UTC)
Hi ::@Ronhjones: We have submitted it, any idea how long does it take to appear on the page?
Best Regards, Maryam.a.alnajjar (talk) 09:45, 3 April 2019 (UTC)
This is not a copyright violation of some UK newspaper. It's a quite well-known image (I recognised it immediately) available at [3] which is out of copyright in Australia (as documented in the meta-data there) as it is photo taken before 1955 in Australia. The problem is that it was uploaded by a new user who probably did not know how to correctly licence it as PD-Australia as that isn't an option that is offered. Can this be unspeedily-deleted please. I'm happy to update the licence. Kerry Raymond (talk) 08:05, 2 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Kerry Raymond: Was not deleted yet - I've removed the banner for you Ronhjones (Talk) 15:54, 2 April 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks, I’ve fixed up the meta-data, licence etc. Kerry Raymond (talk) 14:17, 3 April 2019 (UTC)
I edited the file description, updating to the source of the team's logo. Please check it out and let me know if that works. Cheers.--Cocu15 (talk) 19:25, 2 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Cocu15: You will need to get permission for the logo's use by the logo's owner. A lot of typical helmet images have been deleted in the past, and are now on en-wiki under the non-free (fair use) rules. Ronhjones (Talk) 22:00, 2 April 2019 (UTC)
Your chek on DGIMs possible copyright violation
Dear Ronhjones,
we just put the new logo of the society "DGIM" on their page. There is no copyright violation because it is directly created by the society itself. Just take a look at the actual press release https://www.dgim.de/fileadmin/user_upload/PDF/Pressemeldungen/DGIM_PM_Neues_Logo_F.pdf And on the congress homepage you also find the new logo https://dgim2019.de/ We would appreciate if you accept the new picture on https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deutsche_Gesellschaft_f%C3%BCr_Innere_Medizin Thanks a lot Christina — Preceding unsigned comment added by Medizinkommunikation (talk • contribs) 04:52, 3 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Medizinkommunikation: Copyright is automatically "All Rights Reserved" when created. There is no Creative Commons license on those links - in fact one clearly says "Copyright All Rights Reserved © 2014". Either there must be an explicit "Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 4.0" on the web page or you need to go to COM:OTRS to donate the permission. Ronhjones (Talk) 14:48, 3 April 2019 (UTC)

Copyright status: File:Georgiana Goddard King.png
Hello, Mr. Ronhjones,
If you can help me, I would like to know if a picture like this
-- File:Professor_Georgiana_Goddard_King_at_Bryn_Mawr_College_(ca_1910).png
I can colorized here:
and after that I upload it with a license creative commons?
Thank you in advance and best regards, Jialxv (talk) 17:49, 4 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Jialxv: If you do substantial work then the picture is a derivative, but you hold the copyright for the extra work carried out - and therefore you can apply whatever license you want.Ronhjones (Talk) 17:53, 4 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Ronhjones: :) So then, when I uploaded this picture File:Professor Georgiana Goddard King at Bryn Mawr College (ca 1910) en color.png or another this File:Georgiana Goddard King.png, I should have indicated that it was a derivative work and then put the Creative Commons license? Can I change these now or I must to start again the uploads? Thank you very much. Jialxv (talk) 18:09, 4 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Jialxv: Just edit and state it's a hand coloured derivative of File:Professor_Georgiana_Goddard_King_at_Bryn_Mawr_College_(ca_1910).png (put a ":" before the "File" to stop the image showing), no need for extra uploads, just edit the description Ronhjones (Talk) 18:22, 4 April 2019 (UTC)

Bonjour j'ai créé cette image avec des ressource/meubles du site Wappenwiki ou tout est sous license CC 3.0. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ettenrocal (talk • contribs) 12:55, 5 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Ettenrocal: Scroll down to the bottom of the page - the logo there says CC (and in small letters) BY NC SA. NC is not allowed here.
- Faites défiler vers le bas de la page - le logo indique CC (et en minuscules) BY NC SA. NC n'est pas autorisé ici. Ronhjones (Talk) 15:11, 5 April 2019 (UTC)
@Ronhjones Someone on facebook wikimedia page just told me i can change the license ? I understand nothing, why i couldn't use CC 3.0 ??? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ettenrocal (talk • contribs) 15:14, 5 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Ettenrocal: Not allowed. The creator determines the license. If it was uploaded here, he could sue for copyright violation. Ronhjones (Talk) 15:40, 5 April 2019 (UTC)
@Ronhjones I have right to share it but under CC 3.0 what Wikimedia doesn't allow WHY ??? Stupid rule really. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ettenrocal (talk • contribs) 16:41, 5 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Ettenrocal: It's not a Wikimedia rule, it's the Copyright Law. See what you can and cannot do - https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/ Ronhjones (Talk) 18:02, 5 April 2019 (UTC)
@Ronhjones Sorry but its a Wikimedia rule, ALL pictures MUST be under CC 4.0 that is free for comemrcial use and you can't change license with CC that are non free for commercial use. SO IT IS A WIKIMEDIA stupid rule. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ettenrocal (talk • contribs) 12:28, 6 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Ettenrocal: Correct, we are not and never had been a "sharing" site, we can leave that to the social media. We have always been a full re-use depositary of images - see Commons:Project_scope#Aim_of_Wikimedia_Commons. All the rules here are made by the community, not the Foundation, and anyone is free to suggest a policy change at Commons:Village_pump/Proposals Ronhjones (Talk) 16:02, 6 April 2019 (UTC)

File:Runbox.png
I re-added the Runbox logo as per your specification (I believe) to the Runbox Wikipedia article, yet it has since been removed again: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Runbox&type=revision&diff=892319423&oldid=888079409. Please advise. GeirThomasAndersen (talk) 23:49, 20 April 2019 (UTC)
