Etymology
Derived in the Heian period from writing the man'yōgana kanji 保 in the cursive sōsho style.
Hiragana character
- The /ho/ syllable.
- The thirtieth character in the gojūon ordering of hiragana. The previous character is へ and the next character is ま. The equivalent katakana character is ホ.
