Etymology

From Arabic حِزْبُ اللهِ (ḥizbu llāhi, literally the party of God), after Quran 5:56, which Shiites interpret as referring to the Imams and those who support them. Feminine gender probably after Partei (as in the translation Partei Gottes), perhaps also reinforced by the /a/-auslaut.
