offering formula (plural offering formulas)

  1. a conventional Ancient Egyptian dedicatory text inscribed on funerary objects, beginning with the phrase ḥtp ḏj or ḥtp ḏj nswt and indicating a funerary gift authorized by the king and provided by the funerary establishment of a local god
  2. Used other than figuratively or idiomatically: see offering,‎ formula.
