[edit]From dialectal gjidhë, from Proto-Albanian *semdza, from Proto-Indo-European *sem-ǵʰo- (compare Old Armenian եզ (ez), Latin singulus). The dialectal gji derives from Proto-Indo-European *sem-, also attested alone with the same meaning.[1] Related to çdo.
