Etymology
[edit]Apparently borrowed from Yiddish [Term?] (“suitor, boyfriend, lady's man”). Further etymology uncertain.

Usage notes
[edit]- In the past, it was used disparagingly especially by parents to describe lovers or boyfriends of their children who for example would crash weddings and other events in an crass manner.
