The 2012 Copa Caixa Stock Car season was the 34rd Stock Car Brasil season. It will began on March 25 at the Interlagos and end on December 9 at the same circuit, after twelve rounds. The teams that compete with Chevrolet, came to have Chevrolet Sonic as representation of the manufacturer.[1]
The category announced changes for 2012 season, excluding the super final and system of dropped. The scoring system was change with the top twenty drivers in each race are awarded points on a scale of 22, 20, 18, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1.[2]
Teams and drivers
Team changes
- Amir Nasr Racing and Scuderia 111 will leave the championship, while Carlos Alves Competições and Mico's Racing will join in the series. RZ Motorsport, in 2011 called Crytal Racing team, will have a partner with Gramacho Racing and JF Racing with Nascar Motorsport.
- Due to questions of sponsorship, some teams to change their name; FTS Competições in 2011 Esso Mobil Super Racing was renamed as BMC Racing, RZ Motorsport to Linea Sucrolose, AMG Motorsport to Mobil Super Pioneer Racing, Mico's Racing to Prati-Donaduzzi Racing, JF Racing to Comprafacil Nascar JF and A.Mattheis Motosport to Shell Racing.
- Red Bull Racing switched from running Peugeot 408 to Chevrolet Sonic and Shell Racing leaves Chevrolet for will be part of Peugeot.

- Popó Bueno will switch from A.Mattheis Motosport to Linea Sucrolose.[7]
- Nonô Figueiredo will move from Esso Mobil Super Racing (FTS Competições) to Mobil Super Pioneer Racing (AMG Motorsport).[8]
- Diego Nunes will move from Bassani Racing to Hot Car Competições.[9]
- Tuka Rocha will switch from Vogel Motorsport to BMC Racing.[11]
- After competing at two races in 2011, Antônio Pizzonia will move to Comprafacil Nascar JF.[13]
- Valdeno Brito will switch from Esso Mobil Super Racing to Shell Racing.[18]
- Júlio Campos and Rodrigo Navarro will join Carlos Alves Competições, having left Scuderia 111 and JF Racing respectively.[17]
- Giuliano Losacco and Felipe Maluhy will join Bassani Racing, having left Hot Car Competições and Officer ProGP respectively.[15][16]
- Rodrigo Sperafico and Ricardo Sperafico will join Prati-Donaduzzi Racing. In 2011 Rodrigo competing in JF Racing and Ricardo for AMG Motorsport, Scuderia 111 and Amir Nasr Racing.[21]
Entering Stock Car Brasil
- After eleven seasons in IndyCar Series, Vitor Meira will join Officer ProGP.[6]
- After four seasons in Stock Car Brasil second tier, Galid Osman will join BMC Racing.[11]
- Pedro Boesel also competing in Stock Car Brasil second tier for three seasons, will join Comprafacil Nascar JF.[13]
Leaving Stock Car Brasil
- After competing part-time, as guest or racing few races in 2011 Alan Hellmeister, Diego Freitas, Sérgio Jimenez, Matheus Stumpf, Willian Starostik, Alberto Valério, Tarso Marques, Bruno Junqueira, Jacques Villeneuve, Cláudio Ricci, Serafin Jr. and Antonio Jorge Neto will not competing in 2012.
Mid-season changes

- Bassani Racing they were then forced to miss Velopark and Ribeirão Preto rounds due to unresolved financial disputes. The team return at Londrina, with two time Stock Car Brasil second tier champion, Rafael Daniel replaces Giuliano Losacco.[14]
Race calendar and results
An twelve-round calendar was announced on 1 December 2011, with Tarumã replacing Santa Cruz, and Curitiba to host two races.[24] There was a change of date between Ribeirão Preto and Velopark.[25] On 25 May 2012, the category anunced that the second round at Interlagos was transferred for the last race of the season. Also confirmed the completion of the third edition of Million Race[26]
