Makhdumpur, situated between Gaya and Jehanabad, is a town and notified area in the Jehanabad district of the Indian state of Bihar.

Demographics

According to the 2001 India census, Makhdumpur had a population of 30,170. Males constituted 52 percent of the population and females 48 percent.NH 83 patna - gaya highway passes through it.It is about 60 KM from patna and 30 km from gaya. Makhdumpur had an average literacy rate of 45 percent—lower than the national average of 59.5 percent—with male literacy at 54 percent and female literacy at 35 percent but now days there has been increase in schools and education in this area. In 2001, 17 percent of the population was under 6 years of age.Paleya is the most educated and influential village and enjoys the facilities of railways station, bus stand,police station and referral hospital in close proximity. Though a river called jamuna flows in the area but the water of it is almost of no use as it does not cater to the needs of agriculture.[1][2]
