"singer-songwriter" is not just anybody who sings and writes songs in any genre of music; it only refers to the folk genre specifically, and anybody outside of that is two things rather than hyphenated-one.

MorMor (born 1992 in Toronto as Seth Nyquist) is a Canadian indie pop singer and songwriter.

Life

Seth Nyquist was born in Toronto, where he grew up with his mother, English professor Mary Nyquist, and his sister.[1][2][3] Nyquist was singing in the school choir and played trumpet in a band.[2]

After he finished school, Nyquist started to study sociology at Toronto's Ryerson University.[2] He dropped out after one semester and focused on his musical career. He took piano and vocal training.[2]

In 2015 he released his debut EP Live For Nothing under the moniker MorMor, which was inspired by his late grandmother.[4] In 2018 MoMor released the EP Heaven’s Only Wishful through his own label Don’t Guess. The title track generated several million views on YouTube and Spotify.[2]
