Maulana “Alan” Balang-Amer, a Maranao people, activist-cum-diplomat, leader of One Bangsamoro Movement, Inc. or known as “1BANGSA,”[1] who hails from war-torn Marawi City was the convener of street parliamentarians in Metro Manila began in 2015 while advocating peace and justices for Bangsamoro people in the Philippines thru Bangsamoro Organic Law. [2]

Bangsamoro frontliner

Balangi-Amer joined into peace advocates since 2015, the same year the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) signed by President Duterte. He had led over 50 Filipino Muslims (also Bangsamoro people) to support the signing of Bangsamoro Organic Law. They had rallied outside the Golden Mosque in Quiapo, Manila in 2018 months before January 21, 2019 plebiscite. [3]

Besides energy-producing body that provide 65% electrical power in Mindanao, he has called the creation of an office that supervise the development for Lake Lanao located in south of Marawi City. He cited a Senate Bill discussed in 18the Congress in 2019.[4]

During the 2017 Battle of Marawi, he along with members of his organization appealed to President Duterte to stop using airstrike and declare cease fire to allow them and other group to rescue civilians as well as children and women. [5]

As Preside Duterte will help correct historical injustices committed against Bangsamoro people, [6] Balangi-Amer during the threat of Coronavirus disease 2019 calls government to establish a body that would serve as a council for Bangsamoro people outside Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
