Club career

Alberto was born in Don Benito, Badajoz. He started playing as a senior in the 2008–09 season with CD Don Benito, in Tercera División. One year later he signed with UD Almería, being initially assigned to the B-team in Segunda División B.

On 28 April 2012, Alberto was first called up by the main squad, being selected for a Segunda División game against Deportivo de La Coruña.[1] He made his main squad debut the following day, coming on as an 84th-minute substitute for Dani Bautista in an eventual 2–0 home win.[2]

On 16 July 2013, Alberto joined CD Leganés also in the third level.[3] He appeared in 30 matches during the campaign, achieving promotion to the second level.

Alberto scored his first professional goal on 24 August of the following year, netting the first in a 1–1 home draw against Deportivo Alavés.[4] In 2015–16, he contributed with 28 appearances as his side was promoted to La Liga for the first time ever.
