Among the food crops grown in the area, maize tops the lead as it is the staple food of the county. the county is one of the leading tea producers in Kenya which is home to Multinational tea estates of James Finlay , Unilever and Williamson tea which extends from the Kericho neighboring county . The county is the source of many rivers like River Sondu with tributaries known as Itare in Konoin sub-county and Kipsonoi in Sotik among many which flow through the county to Lake Victoria.River Mara Known as River Nyangores being the main tributary which passes through Bomet town,

Bomet County shares a long boarder with Narok county which makes it close to the World Famous Maasai Mara Game reserve which attracts very many visitors and as a result, hotels are built creating employment to many people.

Since the county is among the densely populated in the region, there is enough labor force that has mainly concentrated around agricultural areas.
