Agriculture is the backbone of the county’s revenue with tea farming and dairy production leading in the sector. Among the food crops grown in the area, maize tops the lead as it is the staple food of the county. the county is one of the leading tea producers in Kenya which is home to Multinational tea estates of James Finlay , Unilever and Williamson tea which extends from the Kericho neighboring county .
