Chad Warrix

Early life

Chad Warrix was born on January 28 in Hazard, Kentucky to a musical family. Warrix grew up 20 miles Northwest of Hazard in a small town called Jackson, KY. With a population of only around 1200 people, Warrix was able to embrace nature and countless outdoor activities the nearby Appalachian Mountains offered. Warrix developed a passion for riding dirt bikes after receiving his first bike at age four. Music became another passion after he received his first guitar at age 13. Following his enthusiasm for music, Warrix enrolled at Belmont University in Nashville, TN and graduated with a degree in Business and Music Business.

Sodium

While taking courses at Belmont, Warrix started to find himself as a musician. He constantly played gigs around town and formed different bands. One such band he became a part of was an alternative rock group named Sodium. Sodium was built from its members’ own financing and was ultimately signed to a recording contract with Universal Music in New York City. They released their first album, Sodium, on Outer Records in 1997. Warrix released two additional records with Sodum, Words[1] in 2001 on Wahki Music and The Box Van Journals in 2003 on Universal and Warrix's own label, Picnic Hill Records.

Halfway to Hazard

After Sodium’s run ended Warrix moved to Nashville to pursue his own music. In 2004 he reconnected with fellow Kentucky-bred singer/songwriter David Tolliver. The two began writing songs together. Warrix and Tolliver formed a duo, Halfway to Hazard in 2006 and landed a record deal with Nashville’s Mercury Records[2] in 2006. Their debut album, Halfway to Hazard was released on October 14, 2007 and was co-produced by country superstar Tim McGraw. It featured their debut single, "Daisy", which rose to be a Top 40 hit on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs chart while the album rose to #14 on Billboard’s US Country Albums chart[3]. Warrix and Tolliver also toured with McGraw from 2007-2008. On October 19, 2009 they released their second album Come on Time, produced by Warrix. The album did not chart. Warrix and Tolliver have recorded over 90 songs together.

In January 2010 the pair announced they would take an indefinite break as a duo.[4].
