Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai - Another Road is the upcoming sequel to the best-selling Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai fighting game for Playstation Portable. The story arc is based off what would it be like if Majin Buu was released in Future Trunks' timeline. Characters, on the otherhand, will be from the Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and Dragon Ball GT sagas. The release date for Shin Budokai: Another Road is March 20, 2007 for the USA and around Spring 2007 for Japan.
Gameplay
The gameplay will be much like the previous game including: a new Ki management system, better camera angles, over 50 new skills and techniques, the ability to transform into more than one form in-battle, and more. Fortunately, the controls will remain the same, but there may be some additional functions that can be used during gameplay. The story mode gameplay will feature something similar to what was in Budokai 3 and Budokai Tenkaichi 2.
NEW UPDATE!!! New update on this as of 2/15/07! First of all, the environments have now become more interactive, as you can now perform some of those short cutscene-type moves where you send your opponent sailing through the stage and end up at a new location (if you have no idea what I'm talking about, refer to Budokai 2 for the consoles; that's a good example). However, there is not yet any word on whether the environments will be destructible (like Budokai Tenkaichi) or not... but most likely not, so don't get your hopes up (sorry).
Also, you will be glad to hear that the camera angle is adjustible, although it is not clear to what extent. You might even be able to revert the camera angle back into the way it was in the original Shin Budokai, but, once again, don't get your hopes up (sorry again).
Character customization returns! I know that a lot of us were feeling really murderous after playing Shin Budokai and discovering that the shop was stocked with stamps instead of skill capsules, but apparently, you can now once again customize your character! NOTE: This is not 100% confirmed. Go to Gamespot.com and search for shin budokai; Another Road will be the first game on the list. Click on it, then go to the screenshots page. Scroll down to where it says 'Screens added on: Feb 7, 2007' and the screen you're looking for is in the first row; the first one on the right. It shows a bust of Trunks and reads 'Team Edit' at the top. That's what makes me so concerned. The status changes might only be for a certain Z-Trial mode, for example, and so will have no effect in the story, arcade, or multiplayer modes. But if you're here reading this and you've just decided to believe the fine print and you're too lazy to mozy on over to Gamespot, then here are the customizables:
1. Life (health bar)
2. Ki (energy/ki bar)
3. Defense (endurance + blocking; X)
4. Rush (rush attack; [])
5. Smash (smash attack; /\)
6. Energy Blast (ki blast; O)
7. Chasing ATK (not really sure... but it's probably the aura blast attacks; R-Trigger + [],/\; also accesible while moving)
8. Special ATK (ki-consuming attacks; <,O & >,O; two different attacks)
9. Ultimate ATK (special move; ^,O)

Unconfirmed Characters
With 17 characters confirmed, and only 24 characters total in the game, that only leaves us with 7 empty slots with which to place our best guesses. Here are mine:
1. Tapion (I'm praying) (Dragonball Z Movie 13: Super Dragon Fist)
2. Bojack (Dragonball Z Movie 8: Bojack's Revenge)
3. Baby (Dragonball GT)
4. Super Android 17 (Dragonball GT)
5. Omega Shenron (Dragonball GT)
6. Nova Shenron (Dragonball GT)
7. Hercule, a.k.a. Mr. Satan (Dragonball Z)
Of course, there is still the case of transformations. I'm pretty sure that the Super Saiyan 4 transformations for both Goku and Vegeta, as well as Gogeta (fusion), will be made available in this game.
Also, another thing. I strongly believe that transformations past Super Saiyan will be available for Trunks. I mean, think about it. The whole story revolves around his conflict with Majin Buu. What's he going to do, beat Buu as a mere Super Saiyan? Run away and let Buu destroy the universe? Call Goku for help and watch from a safe distance? I mean, think about it. Of course, I might be wrong. If you ever watched Movie 13 of Dragonball Z (the one with Tapion and Hildegarn), you would know the origins of Trunks' sword.
(((SPOILERS AHEAD!!!)))
Trunks's sword, originally Tapion's, was the holy sword created by ancient priests as a weapon against all evil. With this magical sword, one of the priests was able to slice the great monster Hildegarn in half. The top half was sealed within Tapion, the bottom half within his younger brother. Anyway, the rest doesn't matter. The important thing to note is that no other weapon could harm Hildegarn save for the sword. If Majin Buu were to be struck by this sword, he would probably not be able to regenerate, allowing Trunks to whoop him into oblivion. But then again, it's just a theory...
