Revision as of 08:32, 13 February 2009

Uchtreda was the youngest daughter of Gospatric, Earl of Dunbar and Northumbria and a his wife whose name is unrecorded. She is also the great-great-granddaughter of Malcolm II. Her date of birth is unknown although she was born probably in the period of 1067-1072.

Very little is known about her. A betrothal had been proposed to Duncan II by Uchteda's father Gospatrick before Duncan needed the alliance. But in 1093 when Donald III seized the throne and William II of England didn't give help. Duncan married Uchtreda to seal the alliance in 1093/1094.[1]

Once Duncan became king, her coronation is unrecorded.

After the death of her husband she gave birth c. 1094 to her son by Duncan, William fitz Duncan.

Her death is unrecorded but her burial place is at Dumferline Abbey, Fife.
