The Ezra Hospital was built through the munificence of Mrs E.D.J. Ezra. It was inaugurated in 1887 but patients were admitted from 9th April, 1888. This was meant for the Jewish population of Calcutta. But with the dwindling number of Jews in the city, the indoor beds of Chest & Otorhinolaryngology Deptts are being accommodated in the Ezra Hospital at present.

The Ezra Hospital was built through the munificence of Mrs. Mozelle E. D. J. Ezra.[1] It was inaugurated in 1887 but patients were admitted from 9th April, 1888. Initially it was meant for the Jewish population of the city.

At present, the Ezra Hospital houses the following departments of Calcutta Medical College:

  • Department of Chest medicine (Pulmonology)
  • DOTS clinic
