Le Mans 24 Hours (known as Test Drive Le Mans in North America) is a videogame released for the Dreamcast, PlayStation, PlayStation 2, Microsoft Windows PCs and the Game Boy Color. Based on the famous 24 hours of Le Mans race in France, the player is invited to race the entire 24 hour endurance course or take part in a simpler arcade mode.

Game play

Tracks

PlayStation version includes 6 tracks, which include Le Mans, Bugatti, and 4 other tracks.

Game Boy version includes 21 circuits.

Dreamcast version includes 10 circuits (Le Mans, Bugatti, Brno, Donington National, Donington Grand Prix, Catalunya National, Catalunya Grand Prix, Suzuka East, Suzuka West and Suzuka Grand Prix).

PlayStation 2 and Windows versions include 12 circuits, which adds Road Atlanta National, Road Atlanta over the Dreamcast version.

Reception

The Dreamcast version was singled out for particular praise among reviewers, with GameSpot awarding the game 9.6/10, IGN 9.4/10 and GameSpy 9/10. The PC and PlayStation versions, which were identical to each other in their format and presentation, received less praise. The PlayStation 2 version, a port of the Dreamcast game, also received less praise due to lower quality textures, lack of progressive scan, and jaggies, which were a problem in many early PlayStation 2 titles.
