The Battle of Garnisi (52-53) was a battle between the Armenian king Mithridates and his nephew Rhadamistus (the son of Pharsmanes I, the king of Kartli). It took place in the years 52-53. Pharsmanes I, who was afraid that Rhadamistus would not succeed in the reign, encouraged his son to take possession of the kingdom of his uncle Mithridates. Rhadamistus invaded Armenia with the Iberian army and besieged the fortress of Garni, in which Mithridates and the Roman detachment with him were locked up. Roman commander prefect Celius Pilon, who was bribed by Radamist, tricked Mithridates into surrendering to his nephew. Although Radamist promised his uncle safety, Mithridates and his sons were killed on his orders. Rhadamistus became the king of Armenia for a short time.[1]
