A Slurpee is a frozen carbonated beverage (although not carbonated in Canada) sold by 7-Eleven. In 1967[1], 7-Eleven licensed the product from the ICEE Company, and began selling it as the Slurpee. Slurpee is a registered trademark of the 7-Eleven Corporation.
The Slurpee machine has a separate spout for each flavor at the front of a tumbler or freezer, where patrons pour their own Slurpees. When Slurpees were first introduced, the dispensing machine was located behind the counter, and the clerk on duty would be tasked with dispensing the product. Common flavors are frozen Coke and cherry, but new flavors are introduced regularly. In the early days, flavors rotated much more vigorously than in modern times.
Worldwide consumption
Slurpees are offered in many but not all covered countries. Canadians purchase an average of 30 million drinks per year. Despite its status as the a very cold city (often jokingly called "Winterpeg") with a population of over 600,000,[2] Winnipeg, MB was crowned the Slurpee Capital of the World for the tenth time in a row in 2009. In Manitoba, 7-Eleven stores across the province sell an average of 8,330 Slurpee drinks per month. The rest of Canada sells an average of 5,990, which makes Manitobans the world leader of Slurpee sales.
Though it is known to be sold in Mexico, the Slurpee is not sold in most standard 7-Elevens in Mexico.

Off the Market Flavors
Slurpee has some flavors that didn't make it to sales and other flavors that their time has passed. (Labled on the site as "Cold Storage".[3]On this page, they show different experimental flavors that never made it to sales. On most of the site, whoever wrote it takes on a somewhat humorous tone, depending on what you consider funny. The list is a flash animation and brings up a new flavor every time you want to see a new one and click on the necessary button.
Religious and dietary information
Most Slurpee flavors are certified kosher "parve" as well as halal[4]. The Diet Pepsi flavor uses sodium caseinate as an anti-freezing agent (sugar is a natural anti-freeze in other flavors) which only gives it the status of kosher dairy. The Piña Colada flavor, however, is not kosher.[5]
Slurpees are gluten free. Patients with celiac disease, gluten intolerance, or wheat allergies can consume Slurpees. Basic ingredients to the Slurpee include: sugar, ice, and fruit flavors.[6]
Slurpee history
Machines to make frozen beverages were invented by Omar Knedlik in the late 1950s. The idea for Slurpees came when Knedlik's soda fountain broke down, forcing him to put his sodas in a freezer to cool down, which caused them to become slushy. Many people loved them, which gave him the idea to make a machine to help make a "slushy". Early prototypes for the Slurpee machine made use of an automobile air conditioning unit.[7] In 1965 the Slush was first invented and began to be sold by 7-Eleven. The name "Slurpee" was give due to the slurping sound made when drinking them. Bob Stanford, a 7-Eleven agency director, coined the term "Slurpee" in 1967. 7-Eleven was originally an American corporation, though having been bought by a Japanese company, Slurpees are now sold around the world.[citation needed]
In 2007 as part of the Kwik-E-Mart promotion for The Simpsons Movie, Slurpees at 7-Elevens were renamed "Squishees" and sold in special collector cups.[8]

Promotion with Nexon
Beginning November 4th, 2008, 7-Eleven worked with Nexon to promote Slurpees to gamers that play on Nexon.net.[9] The Slurpee cups had images printed on them from certain Nexon games. From buying these special cups, gamers can obtain a code that they can redeem at Slurpee.Nexon.net (Does not exist anymore since the event ended). When redeeming this code, gamers can redeem special in-game items.
