High-rises

Why are there so many more high-rises in this arrondissement than in all the others? 71.156.15.166 23:23, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The southern part of the arrondissement was rebuilt during the 60s-70s, when towers were fashionable in France (cf fr:Italie 13). Thbz 07:02, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting! Thanks. 71.156.15.166 22:03, 17 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vietnamese

It should be mentioned that Vietnamese also live there. Badagnani 08:56, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is a huge fact politically and culturally, and I'm surprised it's been omitted. Indochina was a French Colony, and the entire conflict in SE Asia after WW2 has this as its major root. Also, I'd imagine that the reason it became so developed in the 60s and 70s has something to do with Vietnamese people fleeing the violence in their country during the U.S./Vietnam war going on at the time.
